While we're publicising icecast2 streams...
Hi all: I've had an icecast2 stream up for about a week now and thought I'd tell you all about it. This is a very primitive setup - using icecast2 and libshout on a linux box and using the example program along with a random sort utility to shunt the files to the server. The stream is at 22.05khz mono at the lowest bitrate, meaning it hovers around the 32kbps mark. there are 38 songs

...). I dont see any specific place on the wiki where we might put this sort of info, so I've started a section on the /media/ page. If / When it gets too large, we can move it into a dedicated page. Ofcourse, it would be nice if periodicals who did this actually told us about it. So we could publicise it a bit more as well. -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

Xapian 1.2.2 released
I've uploaded Xapian 1.2.2 (including Search::Xapian 1.2.2.0). If you are wondering what happened to 1.2.1, a couple of portability issues were found after packaging it but before announcing it, so we decided not to widely publicise it, and prepare 1.2.2 to fix these. The logs showed at least one download of 1.2.1 already, hence we didn't just reuse that version. As usual you can download from: http://xapian.org/download You can read an overview of the release here: http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/ReleaseOverview/1.2.2 T...

Have a website which is interactive, and build a community, and big membership. I have a face book group started. Please Join! 2. Publicise widely. 3. Create an Open Educational Resource (OER) using Wiki-Educator. A web casting for pacific artists 'how to' repository toolkit. This will involve some technical questions and work with an FPA organizing committee to make webcasting the 2012 FPA a reality. I understand that FPA...

temporary setups for ICEcast at festivals?
...erage. Do people think it would be possible to do this with ICEcast. Some of the problems are satellite connections and no high-speed submarine cables. There are a number of ways I would like to approach this: 1. Have a website which is interactive, and build a community, and big membership. 2. Publicise widely. 3. Create an Open Educational Resource (OER) perhaps using Wiki-Educator. A web casting for pacific artists 'how to' repository toolkit. Xen dom0 support for CentOS-6
hi guys, This conversation seems to come up often; people are still quite keen on having dom0 support for CentOS-6; If we can answer a few questions, we can move that issue forward a bit : - What do we need to do in order to make that happen ? - What code needs to show up in CentOS/Extras or Plus ? - and is anyone willing to take ownership of handing this ? Regards, - KB

Hostbased login based on SSHFP DNS records?
Hi, is it possible to use SSHFP DNS records to enable password-free host-based login? What I already got working is to use SSHFP DNS records to verify the server host keys. debug1: found 2 secure fingerprints in DNS debug1: matching host key fingerprint found in DNS But hostbased login does not work and I still need to supply a password to log in. (Or to configure a known_hosts file on the

MoH with an Aastra 9112i
Hello, I have some Aastra 9112i's in production that almost function flawlessly. The problem I'm having is when a caller is put on hold they do not hear hold music. If they are on hold for too long (~ a minute?) they are hung up on. All other phones including Aastra 480i and Sipura/Linksys ATAs all seem to be working fine. Is this a quirk anyone else has experienced? Any

Header files
I will probably be sending patches for about 30 header files. I have put some TODO: notices in some of the header files where I''ve had to temporarily remove some things. How do you guys want these? A .zip of all the changed files? A .zip of all the patches? Individual e-mails? All attached to one? Roy

R for Windows FAQ 2.8 suggestion
...efer) and then delete anything left of the old installation. Different versions of R are quite deliberately installed in parallel folders so you can keep old versions around if you wish." The second paragraph can probably be dropped. Following the 2.5/2.6 changes in primitive functions, as publicised in: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2007-October/142367.html I have found that users are confused, and that the advice to "copy any installed packages to the library folder in the new installation" is now unhelpful. The FAQ does mention (in various places) the benefits of havin...

Hello, I have tried to use the blazer_ser driver to interface with my UPS. nut is not able to detect the UPS. I have not been able to find much info regarding Socomec UPS support in nut. Socomec does publish a description of the serial protocol for these UPS's, which can be found here: http://www.socomec.com/download-jbus-modbus.html(select UPS OTHER for device model, 1-5KVA for device power

New Ogg Vorbis streams
It might be interesting for this list to know that we've never had more positive feedback for anything we've done on the website than the amount of nice feedback we've got since introducing our Ogg streams. Readers of this list might like to know that we've just launched another two stations onto the excellent Ogg Vorbis platform. Again, we'd ask for your help in publicising

R installation problems on Linux Mint 18.1 via jessie-cran3
...r-base-dev With my .Renviron file already fixed from previously with the correct paths inserted, my R 3.4.0 is now up and running with LaTeX run successfully. I've also taken care to delete your Debian R key from my machine, retaining the Ubuntu one. I rather think it would be a good idea to publicise this solution for Linux Mint 18.1 users *as widely as possible* so that they don't run into the same unnecessary difficulties I just did: it would not be immediately obvious to all such users (it wasn't to me) that they should instead be downloading and installing from the Ubuntu and not th...

data.table is on CRAN (enhanced data.frame for time series joins and more)
Dear all, The data.table package was released back in August 2008. This email is to publicise its existence in response to several suggestions to do so. It seems I didn't send a general announcement about it at the time and therefore perhaps, not surprisingly, not many people know about it. Glancing at some r-help threads recently supports the idea of sending a public announcement....
