AIX mail quota plugin problems
From reading the wiki for a filesystem quota, I took my shot at
1) building my binaries using the mods in AIXPluginsSupport
2) changing dovecot.conf and
3) putting the plugins in the library
But I'm getting this error message when I invoke dovecot:
Plugin imap_quota not found from directory /usr/local/lib/dovecot
Error: imap dump-capability process returned 89
It would seem that

[LLVMdev] Error Building LLVM on AIX 6
Dear Patrick,
Documentation on some AIX routines to do the same thing can be found at
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/comphelp/v8v101/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.xlcpp8a.doc/proguide/ref/dynamic_load.htm.
Interestingly enough, the same page suggests that AIX does, in fact,
support dlopen() and friends for POSIX compatibility. You might need to
find out if there's a header file or a...

Fwd: dovecot bug report (64 bit file offsets)
...he whole
program functionality will be broken. You must use open64/pread64 etc.
Else macros _LARGE_FILE_API should be defined in order to use large
files in other case nothing will work (random parsing errors and dead
indexes will appear ). As I can see there is a big issue in the
dovecot.

Can cloud images be added to 'virt-builder --list' ?
They are quite thinner than regular EL7 images, and can be an excellent
starting point to build images. How can one add them to the repo?
TIA,
Y.

Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All,
Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli
Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment.
ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client
- we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a
TSM backup/restore (full or partial)
Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but
the truth will suffice.
Many thanks,

SCSI device not detected after 4.5 update
After updating to Centos 4.5, I found that one of the LUNs on an
external SCSI array wasn't being detected. If I add the device manually
after boot
echo "scsi add-single-device 0 0 1 1" > /proc/scsi/scsi
it is detected. I can then use the LVM tools to activate it and then
mount the LV on the device.
It doesn't seem to be kernel related as I rebooted into a 4.4 kernel and

Virtio Balloon- Can not see the results
with kvm and virtio- would -m 1024 take proceedence over -balloon
virtio? when i use both together, i see memory stay around 1024 MB less on my host side. I know the guest is not taking but a fraction of that ram, so I would expect the virtio balloon to take the majority of the guests ram and hand it back to the host. this is using the free util/command to take snapshots of the host memory.?

Some issues in Dovecot 1.2.5 after upgrade from 1.0.15
We upgraded from Dovecot 1.0.15 to 1.2.5 last night, on Solaris 10 using
mboxes, mostly without issues.
However I had to trash the index/cache files (too many folders were
showing corruption issues which is especially bad for Prayer Webmail
".prayer" folders that store preferences; Prayer sees a disconnection as
the folder being missing!).
I've had one imap process panic in mailbox

AIX: mntctl implementation for NFS quota support
...with dovecot-1.1.1 on AIX to get quotas (especially
NFS quotas) to work. I've found that dovecot doesn't implement handling
of 'mntctl' and so it is unable to determine filesystem mountpoints on
AIX correctly.
Your'll find more information about 'mntctl' here:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.basetechref/doc/basetrf1/mntctl.htm
Okay...
I've added mntctl support to 'lib/mountpoint.c' today. My tests are
looking good and so I'd like to share the patch.
While I'm still not really familiar with dovecots m...

Monitoring Rails apps?
I just had an interesting meeting with developers from other parts of
my company. One of the things they said they really liked about Java-
based solutions was the availability of sys-admin tools to monitor
Java (probably J2EE) applications.
Nothing comes to mind in the RoR camp to cover this. I''m sure there
are plenty of generic tools for watching pings and log files, but is

* GSSAPI: More changes to authentication. Hopefully good now.
* lazy_expunge plugin: Drop \Deleted flag when moving message.
+ dovecot -n/-a now outputs also lda settings.

GPFS for mail-storage (Was: Re: Compressing existing maildirs)
Great information, thank you. Could you remark on GPFS services hosting mail storage over a WAN between two geographically separated data centers?

OK. there I am again!
Well, I read quite a few documents; thanks for pointing them out... And I
got "it" working...
The most important point I learned is P_a_t_i_e_n_c_e! You really have to wait
a few minutes after having modified your smb.conf and restarted samba. And
you have plenty of time to reboot your client, I am not sure whether you
really need this, but anyway... it really takes quite some
