The best way to end up with WMF files
Hi all
I am doing some stats work for a group of biologists
who require windows metafiles (*.wmf) for their publications.
To create these, I appear to have two choices:
1. Restart my machine in Windows and use savePlot
2. Keep my machine in linux, save as another format,
then convert.
I'd rather stay in linux; but how do I get wmf files? I looked
at using ImageMagick's convert,

dxf() like bmp() or postscript()?
hi-
I have been using postscript()and contour() to do quick plots of geological
sufaces and it would be handy to be able to dump a plot as an autocad dxf
file for vector import into autocad. A search of rhelp of 99 thru 01 gave no matches for dxf. Any suggestions for a dxf or dump of a plot as vectors?

R-plots with 'complex' axis-labelling
...hat the 'plotmath' commands are somewhat limited (at least
I wasn't able to get the $\dot{V}$ generated) and that plots with
'plotmath'-axes wouldn't export properly with pictex() or xfig(). Therefore,
I've done the following:
o use postscript() to create myfig.eps
o pstoedit -f fig myfig.eps myfig.fig
o xfig 011214C.fig
include $\dot{V}$
export: Combined PS/LaTeX (both parts)
o within my latex document:
\input{myfig.pstex_t}
Is this a proper approach?
I am looking forward to your response

postscript preview
gday R friends,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with some graphics issues please.
I'm processing R in batch on redhat6.2 with some graphics to be imported
into msword on NT. For scaling within my doco I want some vector type
graphics. win.metafile doesn't seem to be supported on redhat which gives
me postscript. postscript is ideal but doesn't contain a preview so I

Graph in vector format to OpenOffice
Hello,
I know this topic has been discussed already several times. Is it a
workable solution that emerged? I would like to place R graph in vector
format in an OpenOffice Writer document (solution working in Linux AND
Mac OS X AND Windows). I have tried to play with pstoedit to convert .ps
file produced by R into .svm, .dxf, etc... but without success.

Changing font to times for EMF graphics
Hi,
sorry for the simple question. I am usually able to change the font for PDF graphics with pdf.options(family="Times")
However, I have found no way yet to get an emf file with a times font. I also tried a detour by using pstoedit to convert a pdf with the desired font to an emf but even there the font does not appear as times.
Is there a way to get a times font in an emf file or is it even a restriction of the file format?
I am on Win XP and R 2.9.1.
Many thanks,
Werner

xfig device
Hi, I am VERY interested in getting the xfig driver so that I can edit
graphical output from R. Searching through the mail archives and reading
documentation isn't helping. Is there or isn't there a working driver for
this purpose. How can I get it? I tried looking at the development version
of the tarballs, but I didn't find anything that looked promising in there.
Also, does

PowerPoint
Dear All,
I am looking for the best way to use graphs from R (like xyplot, curve ...) for a presentation with powerpoint. I used to save my plot as pdf and after to copy them as image in powerpoint but the quality is not optimal by so doing.
Another completely independent question is the following: when I use "main" in the xyplot, the main title is very close to my plot,

Editing R graphics
One of the few things that I miss from Splus is
the ability of interactively add text and symbols to graphics
that have been created by functions. I understand that the best
solution in R is to create a graphic file and use external
software for editing the graphic. I know what to use in the
Win environment, but could anyone suggest what tools would
be appropriate under Linux?
Thanks

ticks on persp plot?
Is it possible to get
- ticks
- tick labels (numeric value of each tick)
- axis labels (x, y, z)
on a persp plot? If so, please tell me how. If not, it would be nice to
be able to do it! (At a minimum the ticks; if nec I could do the rest by
hand with tgif after pstoediting the .ps file created by R)
I am using version 63.0. (Maybe I just need to upgrade)
Thanks very much for any help.

FrameMaker/MIF driver
...e driver?
I don't see device driver docs in the R extensions docs.
Are drivers contained in their own source files with simple
interfaces to the data structures with plot data?
3. If that's difficult, what workarounds are possible? I'm
currently writing to ps and then using pstoedit to convert
to mif but its clumsy and inaccurate.
Any answers appreciated.

Re: win.metafiles in linux and R
I posted a similar query some months ago. Some people answered stating that
win.metafiles were not available for R in linux. However, I was suggested
to use the package RSvgDevice, which allows transforming any graphic device
into Scalable Vector Graphics format, this file can then be opened with
sodipodi, and really impresive stuff can be achieved. I also noticed that
OpenOffice for linux has an

I'm using R1.2.2 and wonder whether there is already

for polygon().

Graphics output device
Dear developers,
I wonder would you consider making a save to a graphics file format (as opposed
to ps)?
What prompts this is that we have just finished my wife's thesis using R
heavily for stats and graphs. The combination of latex, bibtex and R generated
.eps worked a treat and we were very pleased with both the final outcome and
the efficiency of gernerating it, especially when all the

suse 9.1 x86_64 rpms?
I noticed on the mailing list archives and through Google searches that
a couple of months ago there was discussion of maintaining rpms for suse
9.1 on the x86_64 architecture.
Are these rpms still planning on being released? It would help me a
great deal.
I've tried compiling from source using the R-base spec files provided on
CRAN. Using that, I am able to produce a running version of
