mpt_sas multipath problem?
...has appeared as working for others and well-supported,
and this 9200-8e is running the -IT firmware, version 15.0.0.0.
The drives are 40x of the WD4001FYYG SAS 4TB variety, firmware VR02.
The spot-checks I''ve done so far seem to show that both device instances
of a drive show up in "prtconf -Dv" with identical serial numbers and
identical "devid" and "guid" values, so I''m not sure what might be
missing to allow mpxio to recognize them as the same device.
Has anyone out there got this type of hardware working? In a multipath
configuration? Suggestio...

I believe that the device you have is a Marvell88SX6081, but without
prtconf output it is
hard to say. If you were to post the output from prtconf -pv and
prtconf -D it might
help figure out what is happening here. /var/adm/messages contents
might also be useful
as well as the output from cfgadm.

Identifying firmware version of SATA controller (LSI)
...ilt by Silicon Mechanics).
The drives are fairly new, and it seems odd that both of the pair would
start showing errors at the same time....
I''m trying to figure out where I can find the firmware on the LSI
controller... are the bootup messages the only place I could expect to
see this? prtconf and prtdiag both don''t appear to give firmware
information.
We have another nearly identical box that isn''t showing these errors
which is why I want to compare firmware versions... the boot logs on
the "good" server have been rotated out so I can''t find a Firmw...

Any rhyme or reason to disk dev names?
Hello,
I am curious to know if there is an easy way to guess or identify the
device names of disks. Previously the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 system made sense
to me... I had a SATA controller card with 8 ports, and they showed up with
the numbers 1-8 in the "t" position of the device name.
But I just built a new system with two LSI SAS HBAs in it, and my device
names are along the lines of:

IPv4 configuration for Solaris guest domains
I''d like to enhance Solaris network configuration slightly to allow
guest domain IPv4 details to be passed from the domain building
control tools through to the relevant components in Solaris
(svc:/network/physical and uts/common/fs/nfs/nfs_dlinet.c).
Attached is a proposal, roughly in the form of a fasttrack.
Diffs for a prototype are at:

...Solaris. My grub entry for
xvm looks like this:
title xvm_76

kernel$ /boot/$ISADIR/xen.gz
module$ /platform/i86xpv/kernel/$ISADIR/unix
/platform/i86xpv/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -k

The problem seems to stem from the fact that the output of
prtconf -v doesn''t contain a line with ''biosdev'' if booted under
xvm, which is why lumake works on regular Solaris.
I''m happy to file a bug if this isn''t just me being boneheaded.
My only question is what''s the correct cat/subcat.

ZFS Hardware Check, OS X Compatibility, NEWBIE!!
This is my first post here, and i hope it is ok that i posted in this thread.
I have been doing a bit of reading on the solaris platforms, and seem to be inclined to try out the open solaris os or solaris 10. My only worry is that my lack of knowledge with the command line may make this difficult regarding trouble shooting. It seems fairly straighforward creating zpools etc, but maybe nexenta is

Have my RMA... Now what??
I have a raidz2 pool with one disk that seems to be going bad, several errors are noted in iostat. I have an RMA for the drive, however - no I am wondering how I proceed. I need to send the drive in and then they will send me one back. If I had the drive on hand, I could do a zpool replace.
Do I do a zpool offline? zpool detach?
Once I get the drive back and put it in the same drive bay..

Cheap ZFS homeserver.
So after toying around with some stuff a few months back I got bogged down and set this project aside for a while. Time to revisit.

Looking around there still is not a good "these cards/motherboards" work list. the HCL is hardly ever updated, and its far more geared towards business use than hobbyist/home use. So bearing all of that in mind I will need the
