What is the best way of setting up the following model:
Hi, I am new to Rails (and Ruby) and for what i have seen sofar i like it a lot! But i can''t figure out what the best sollution would be for the following: Lets say i want to setup a CRM system and i have to sorts of contacts: Customers and Prospects. A part of the info is the same (addresses, company info etc) for both customers an prospects and a part is different. What i would normally do is defining tree tabels: organisations for the generic info, customerdetails for the customer specific info and prospectdetails for the prospect detai...

Prospective GSoC projects - 2019
Hi all I'm a master's student from India. I'm very much interested in compilers and infrastructure toolchains. I have been following llvm for past few months, I like the scope of LLVM project and community behind it. I'm hoping to participate in Google Summer of Code 2019 at LLVM. I have intermediate knowledge of modern c++, boost libraries (proto, hana) and basic knowledge

acts_as_versionable and prospective versions
Anyone out there really familiar with acts_as_versionable ? I''ve recently got it working, and I think it''s working great. But what I want to do is a little different than what it does by default. Currently, each time I save the activerecord, the plugin increments the version number in the main table, and writes a copy to the table that stores old versions. What

Playing a message if my call lands in their voicemail
Hi All, My client makes manual sales calls to prospects. He is often sent to voicemail on the prospect's side. If he finds himself having to leave a message, he would like to be able to press a key and let a pre-recorded message play into the prospect's vmail box. This is so he can maintain consistency in his message. Can anyone offer suggestion...

Transferring system to new drive
Is there a document with instructions for this? I've had smartd warnings that a hard disk in my server is sick, so I am installing a new drive (in addition to the old). I was thinking of copying the old root partition with sudo cp -a -P /* /mnt/hd (after mounting the prospective new root partition). Then I'd have to modify the new /etc/fstab . Is that a sensible approach? -- Timothy

Hi Rithik, I CC'd the 2 other mentors and hopefully you'll get answer. Sorry, but I don't know of any other way to help. :/ You may also try to contact them privately. What to do when you've been hacked?
No, we haven't been hacked. ;) We have a prospective client who is asking us what our policy is in the event of unauthorized access. Obviously you fix the system(s) that have been compromised, but what steps do you take to mitigate the effects of a breach? What is industry best practice? So far, searches haven't produced anything that looks consistent, except maybe identity monitoring

[GSoC] Prospective student for Unify ways to move code or check if code is safe to be moved
Hello, I am an undergrad from India. This summer I'm interested in working on unifying the code motion checks as a GSoC intern with LLVM. I started reading about classical data flow analysis since few months, I see this as a great opportunity to start contributing to LLVM. The idea of unifying all the code motion checks into one place seems very rational and interesting to me. As in the

Asterisk and MS Exchange 2007
Hi, Here you can find a list of MS Exchange 2007 compliant systems: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/telephony-advisor.mspx You cannot see mention of Asterisk ;-)) Has anyone tried to "integrate" Asterisk and Exchange 2007 ? A prospective customer is using MS Exchange 2007 and is asking for such integration. Passion aside, what do you think of such integration ?

git repo: primary/secondary/unofficial
I'm starting this thread to discuss what git repository should be designated as primary and which repositories should be designated as secondary. For years, git.kernel.org has been the primary repo, updated at least with every full and pre- release. git.zytor.com has been the secondary and development repo. Additionally, I've maintained my repos at github.com and git.zytor.com as

A stats question -- about survival analysis and censoring
Dear UseRs, Suppose I have data regarding smoking habits of a prospective cohort and wish to determine the risk ratio of colorectal cancer in the smokers compared to the non-smokers. What do I do at the end of the study with people who die of heart disease? Can I just censor them exactly the same as people who become uncontactable or who die in a plane crash? If not, why not? I'm thinking

weighting (survey) data
Hi, is there a function in R equivalent to the "weight by"-command in SPSS? I'm working with survey datasets and the data need to be weighted by a survey/ probability/ design weight (to compensate for different probabilities to be included in the sample in each country). The weight variables are included in the datasets. I did find functions in the Hmisc and survey packages that

HPC question: torques replacement
Dear Experts, I know there are many HPC (high performance computing) experts on this list. I'd like to ask your advise. Almost two decades ago I chose to go with OpenPBS (turned down condor and other alternatives for whatever reason) for clusters and number crunchers I support for the Department at the university. It turned out to be not bad, long lived choice. At some point I smoothly

samba dc dns issue
You might have a "chicken and the egg" issue with DNS. The prospective (soon-to-be-joined) DC has itself listed in resolv.conf -- so it looks there but can't find an entry for an existing DC to join? Remove the self-referential entry and try again. Add it back after the join.
