Testing that named_scope is defined
Hi guys, I''m just beginning to use RSpec and I ran into the issue of testing a named_scope. I''m not actually trying to test its behavior, as it''s not my code, but I wanted to test at least that it''s defined. I tried doing this: describe Post, ".most_recent" do it "should be defined" do Post.method_defined?(:most_recent).should be_true

wmf on Unix?
libEMF (http://sourceforge.net/projects/libemf/) looks like it may be the solution to generating WMF/EMF files on Unix. It's a general-purpose (LGPL) library that implements the EMF API ... (I was originally going to write to the list to ask why small circles appear to be filled (in src/gnuwin32/graphapp/gdraw.c) by generating a series of rectangles rather than using some kind of

A Couple Questions About a New Project
My compliments on the release of syslinux-5.0 and happy holidays to the entire Syslinux team.? I have a longer message in me.? Lots of curiousity about the direction of the project, but that will have to wait until I finish my first 5.0 project (*not* my first Syslinux project), which just happens to touch past problems: drive enumeration. This particular effort is on a USB flash drive, with two

two cents or not two cents
Hello Producers "Longevity of Support" is an attractive drawcard for CentOS if it means the exact opposite of Fedora's "short support cycle" that does not provide updating of infrastructural libraries for very long, libraries which newer versions of applications (like Firefox, Thunderbird, Opera etc) depend on and which wont install unless the libraries are also newer

Dear Shorewall Users, having noticed that the request for a WebGUI is growing, after a very short conversation I''ve had with Tom, I''d like to let you all evaluate the Web interface to Shorewall I''ve written, integrating the original weblet package made available for the LRP project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preamble

[LLVMdev] Web Site Re-Design
I offered to do the web site a couple of weeks ago. Life got in the way temporarily, and it took me a long time to make it look the way that I wanted and to make it look the same in IE6. Anyway, I wanted to get some feedback on what I had done. Some concerns: 1. SSI and JavaScript seem like overkill. Each subproject can have their own look and feel by overriding the CSS

...ndorsed/sponsored tools and libraries to fulfill this purpose. I think that having that endorsement is critical. Sure, third parties can develop said tools, but they won't ever be in sync with the current core development. Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I apologize profusely if in any way I have offended anyone with my message. Feel free to tell me that the idea is a pipe dream or that I?m just full of it. Maybe there just aren't the resources necessary to do this, or maybe it's already in the works and I'm just not aware of it, or maybe there is something...

Re: CentOS and SL, together? -- attributing statements to me (that I didn't make)
There's nothing like asking someone to "give it a rest" while taking the opportunity to make fun of them. Lucky for you (and the list), I can laugh at myself, because I can seem comical at times. But in all seriousness, just remeber to hold us all to the same standard. And we are all responsible for what we say and how we say it, and I'll never claim to be better than the worst

NtfsTest in Syslinux Releases
Hello, all. I'm just wondering if it'd be possible to include symbol-stripped versions of win32/ntfstest/ntfstest.exe and win64/ntfstest/ntfstest.exe in future Syslinux releases. That way, users could use it while not burdening folks just doing a usual build of Syslinux. If not (scope creep?), no problem. - Shao Miller

In Place Upgrade Tool, CentOS 6 to CentOS 7
Upgrade Tool Docs: http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/CentOSUpgradeTool Make sure you listen to the tool if it tells you that you have Medium, High, or Extreme issues and mitigate them before trying to upgrade. You can not upgrade if you have a GNOME or KDE desktop, for example. Let's give this a try and hopefully we can move this out of testing and into Extras next week. Thanks, Johnny

Have I missed a way to iterate over messages and process it using external tools using the dovecot tools? Has this been discussed ad nauseum and I somehow missed it? (If so, for which I apologize profusely). Thanks, Jeff

Rails too Active?
I feel the need to protest about a disturbing trend in the vibrant RoR community - name dilution. ActiveRecord is called that precisely because it is that. The name come from Martin Fowler, and it expresses a class which is a database record, only _active_ - that is with methods & behaviors (unlike a classical database record, which is completely passive.) If you look in the

They were a little taken aback when I mentioned Richard's aversion to propietary formats, and thanked me profusely for pointing it out, and saving them grief. Meanwhile I've encoded the audio in the kosher ogg-vorbis format, but i couldn't encode at less than 128k, so the files are huge - 110MB+ - but for those that have the pipe they are there plus some stills. http://punkcast.com/64/ I do wish there...

dovecot and pop3
Dear dovecotters: I'm becoming interested in dovecot as a replacement for UW-IMAPD. Any project that claims it's the "postfix of ____ servers" deserves a looksee. If indeed I were to going to switch at some point, I'd need to replace the UW POP3 server (which is a part of the UW package). I would prefer one that actually used the dovecot IMAP server instead of going to

problems compiling 1.2.2 on HP-UX 10.20 (gcc)
The problem seems to be that if you #include <utmpx.h> without suitable -DPOSIX_SOMETHING magic, you get no struct utmpx (all that stuff is wrapped w/ "#ifdef _INCLUDE_XOPEN_SOURCE_EXTENDED"). I'm not sure how you all are handling such portability issues. Thx, Will ================== I configured with # ./configure --prefix=/.=our-deploy/openssh-1.2.2 --without-shadow

Re: CentOS and SL, together? -- attributing statements to me (that I didn't make)
From: Dag Wieers > Bryan, stop generalising and dramatising. What dramatising? At some point, several people decide that anything they dislike was said by me. Several other people said far more negative comments about CIPE than myself. Those comments have now been attributed to me. I purposely avoided making it about whether or not CIPE should or shouldn't not be included, just why it

...itialization just once, then run() on each function, then doFinalization just once? Or do you have to init/run/final separately for every function in the module? I didn't find that WritingAnLLVMPass.html explicitly spelled out this kind of detail at all, though I I'm prepared to apologize profusely if I just missed it. -- lg -- Larry Gritz lg at larrygritz.com
