NFS with UCARP vs. GlusterFS mount question
Morning Folks,
should I prefer NFS with UCARP or native GlusterFS mounts for serving the
system images to XCP?
Which one performes better over 1G network links?
NFS is probaby easier to setup due to existing tools like rpcinfo and
showmount, both are used inside the storage container code, and there is some
code for NFS, not for GlusterFS, except I write one.
UCARP has the disadvantage that the cluster IP is moved away from dead
systems, not from dead gluster server...

Funky character display in rails / mysql
I''m getting complaints from one of my customers that characters in their
text are getting mangled. This happens when they paste data into my
textboxes in rails from MS word in particluar.
Quotes are turning into question marks, etc.
Anyone have a fix / workaround for this?

Deployment Suggestions
...t hassle
free way to go for deployment? Is lighttpd still everyone''s choice?
I remember seeing one that was a pre-packaged environment with apache I
think. Anyway, just about to deploy an app and thought I''d ask
suggestions - want to see what else is out there. It''s probaby just
going shared server at textdrive for the time being, though.
Cheers.

You may be correct Michael, but I still wouldn't use '--enable-fhs' by
itself.

Very probaby.

This may be the cause, but it isn't being helped by Anderson using the
wrong tool to check the permissions, he should be using samba-tool
because this is a DC and the permissions are stored in an EA. I suggest
he posts the output of:...

Bi-directional self-referential HABTM

Now this works fine.. but only one way. I can get all bosses of an
employee but I can''t get all employees of a boss.
In hindsight I think it probaby would have been better to use
a :through relationship for this, but I can''t really change the
database schema now.
The solution might be to code something like a subordinate method for
the employee class myself, but I''m not sure how to do that.
Does anyone has any good suggestio...

I am pretty sure hexxagon worked at one point.. but it doesnt matter.

Unless someone is going to actively fix these.....

..., we'll probably ship it as is.
I've tried out a few programs: hexxagon is an XFAIL (Solaris doesn't
have stdint.h), and make_dparser is genuinely broken (even with Chris's
llvm-gcc fix). Some of the Prolangs-C tests are working now, probably
due to Chris's fix, so Sparc is probaby in better shape than it looks.
If you want to try out the new CFE, just re-download it using the same
directions I gave before. The new one is built and ready to go.

Non-R question.
...(93, 96, 99), which were
analysed assuming no overdispersion, withouyt investigating that issue.
For various reasons we can not get hold of the original databases from
those studies, only the published summary statistics. But we know the
structure of sampling were the same as in the 2002 study, so probaby the
overdispersion were the same (at least assuming that is the best I can
do).
So assuming equal overdispersion I can get four confidence interval s
of "binomial" p's, but people will want an hypothesis test of the overall
null: p_1=p_2=p_3=p_4. Is there some way I can construct an...

While both of these can be worked around - using \input{} for anything Sweave might mess with, and put a % in front of \userpackage[inputenc] (Sweave seems to read LaTeX comments as real; but that's probaby a mis-feature...); SWeave probably should not stripe @ without a starting <<>>= noweb marker.
Had a couple of discussion elsewhere - it seems that international stuff in LaTeX, XeTeX and/or LuaTeX are the main ones to use, but for most parts people still stick to regional encodings (e....

Yes you are right, i realized that just after i sent the email, that it

anyway, if there is anyway how to optimize dovecot for effective

How to do network emulation on incoming traffic?
I''m trying to simulate a satellite link to a Linux server to test
application performance. I haven''t used any of the tc stuff before,
but I blandly assured people it would be "easy" to set up a simulated
long thin pipe on a spare network interface.
However, now that I''m exploring, it''s proving quite difficult.
Let me start with the general question
