[LMTP] sieve filter does not drop privilleges?
...d.dovecot.filter" extension to call some shell scripts. These scrips creates some temporary files. Strange thing: whent sieve is called via dovecot-lda - these files are created by user "kjonca" when sieve is called via lmtp - these files are created by root. Is there any way to drop privilleges where lmtp passing messages to sieve? KJ -- http://wolnelektury.pl/wesprzyj/teraz/

Running network services as a non-root user
...source Alfresco( alfresco.com ), written in java, which has own code for FTP, CIFS (running on tomcat apache and java). I need to run tomcat5 as root in order to achieve that alfresco will bind ftp cifs on privileged ports (21 , 135 .). I am wondering, it is possible to allow user to bind on some privilleged port. Like having whole alfresco running under user alfresco and not root and able to bind on privileged ports? CentOS 5.1 Thanks! Command 'net rpc ...' yields nothing
...med into samba official How-to ( http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NetCommand.html#id2599196) and found something interesting in the "Administering User Rights and Privileges" part, the net rpc command. My goal was to create a new user, other then the root, with a privillege restricted to merely joining PC's into the domain (SeMachineAccountPrivilege). But when I tried one of the command there, e.g. the 'net rpc rights list -U root%rootPassword', nothing came up. Is this normal? Then how to do it right? FYI, I'm using samba-3.0.20b-3.3 with openldap2-2...

samba printer share
Hello, dear colleagues using SAMBA. Who could possibly tell me what I am missing in order to make my SAMBA printer share visible on the windows network( i.e., accessing it from a MS Windows machine's explorer, for example )? It is SAMBA 3.0.23 on Linux 2.4.33 machine(originally RedHat 7.3. based, but so much upgraded, even to GLIBC-2.3.6). here are the linked libraries:

X11 forwarding does not work as normal user
We installed openssh 3.1p1 on our Solaris 2.8 machine using gcc 2.95.2. During the installation, we modified ssh_config and sshd_config to enable X11 and agent forwarding. In sshd_config, we changed the following line to read: X11Forwarding yes In ssh_config, we changed the following two lines to read: ForwardAgent yes ForwardX11 yes Both files are set to permission readable
