adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the user is logged on? -- Andrew Gaffney

login scripts --what to use
Hi, We're setting up a PDC, and would like to have a login script to deliver the mapped drives to users in particular groups, and connect to printers. The printer drivers come from the [print$], share. Does anyone have any good resources for this? What's the easiest and simplest thing to get going --vbscript or batch files? Thanks, chris

how do you manage printers on workstations?
...u manage which workstation (or a group of them) will use which printer? So far I've been using WPKG for that - as I described here: http://wpkg.org/wiki/index.php/Printer_configuration But somehow I feel it isn't the easiest and most intuitive way - it is basically running: rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /q /y /ga /in /n \\server\kyocera as a domain administrator when machine is booted, and then in a netlogon script when a user logs in. In other ways, I'm looking for an easier way to do it :) -- Tomek

serial port problems: micro flashing
I am new to this mailing list. I apologize if any needed information is missing. I know this is a bit much to ask of wine's current serial port implementation, I am hoping someone has maybe figured this out already? Or can help me further the debugging process, I'd rather be part of the solution then simply another complaint about wine's serial port. ***** problem description

PrintUIEntry for NT4?
For Win2K, I've been using RunDLL32 printui.dll, printuientry to do a bunch of different printer related stuff (most notably, mapping printers and setting the default). Looks like NT4 doesn't have the same stuff. Is there anything classier I can use than NET USE under NT4 (without downloading something like Kixstart)? Thanks for you...

Multiple Login scripts
Hi all, Just a quick question about login scripts for a large number of users who change rooms a lot. I have several rooms each with a printer, and nearly a thousand users divided into two main groups - pupils and teachers who change rooms on a routine basis. Is it possible to set up multiple login scripts that would be executed in sequence i.e. run by user is %u, and machine is %m is it

windows 7 64 bit xerox print drivers
...t lnxinc.com> Date : Mon, 19 Sep 2011 18:21:29 -0600 Pour : samba at lists.samba.org I would like to respond to my own question ... yes ... one year later :-) My answer to this problem is * don't use Samba * to solve this type of problem. Instead I created a ".dat" file (using printui.dll) for each printer I wanted to install, scripted the creation of an LPR port ( objWMIService.Get("Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort") and install print drivers using printui.dll. I'm running LPD on the cups server. Works like a charm. No hassles joining this server to the domain, no wonky...

windows 7 64 bit xerox print drivers
Samba 3.4.7 Ubuntu 10.04 Has anyone out there got Xerox 64 bit drivers working in a point and print samba set up? And if so, which Xerox drivers? And which method of driver installation? I'm at a complete loss. We currently have an environment with 500 + desktops and a couple dozen Xerox workgroup docucolor MFPs that are running fine now with XP clients and a Samba print server. PowerBuilder 10-based app: Printing issue
...F file, much like the "Export to PDF" function of OpenOffice.org). I put two PDFs in anyhs.dontexist.net, showing a "good invoice", printed with CUPS-PDF; and a "bad invoice", printed to a real printer. I ran the app with WINEDEBUG using the "print", "printui" and "winspool" channels, but I didn't find anything that seems an error or bug, except for this: fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_ExtEscape QUERYESCSUPPORT(25) - not supported.

setting printing preference in 3.0.1 for 'HP LJ 4/4M plus'
Hi Jerry et al, I'm using the 3.0.1 release on Solaris 9 in security mode ADS. It works fine in general. But there are some problems with printer drivers. For ex the HP LJ 4/4M plus driver can not be set to 'A4' from 'letter' in the printing preferences. I use 'rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /p /t3 /n\\...' to get to the dialogue, so I'm pretty sure I try to write on the server, the connections also looks good (printer admin rights). In the logs I see: [2003/12/18 13:38:19, 0] smbd/service.c:set_admin_user(321) lp logged in as admin user (root privileges) [2...
