smbprint to Win XP
My server is running Centos 4. The printer is attached to a Win XP
machine. Print service is CUPS. Samba version is 3.0.10. I can use
smbclient to connect to the printer and successfully print. I have set
the printer up with exactly the same settings as I am using with
smbclient. When I use lpr to print nothing prints and when I do an
lpstat I get the message: Connection failed with error

Typo in Samba HOWTO collection example 19.2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
Since the samba-docs mailing list is closed, I figured this was the best
place to post this.
I believe there's a typo in example 19.2 ("Overriding global CUPS
settings for one printer") of the official Samba HOWTO collection. The
"print command" parameter in the [special_printer] section contains
several echo commands,

Spool files not deleted when "printing = cups"
We're using the built-in CUPS interface for printing from Samba and this,
as shipped, leaves the spool files in the directory defined by
[printers]
path = whatever
in smb.conf. Other printing types typically explicitely delete these
files as part of the print command but the CUPS interface doesn't
offer any facility to do this. A possible solution is, as in the
attached patch, to delete

CUPS permissions issues
Hello-
I am running Debian Woody, Samba 2.2.7, and Cups 1.1.14-3.
I can print as any local Linux client, but there is a permissions issue when
I try to print from Windows 2000.
My spool directory is /var/spool/cups, the permissions are set 700 to user
lp and group sys. If I chmod the directory to 777, printing works fine, but
when I restart cupsd, the permissions revert back to 700.
I am running

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a
PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile
starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to
the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating
a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

ERRDOS message from smbclient
Hi:
I'm using smbclient version 1.9.15p8 to do some printing from a Solaris
2.3 box to an NT 4.0 share of a remote Win95 box with a printer attached.
Unix <-----> NT 4.0 printer share <---WAN---> Win95 printer share
(NT is sharing a share...)
About a year ago, I wrote a printer script that is used by the lp system
to print to the printer using an lp command. As an error check,

page_count x number_of_copies
Hi all!
I have a samba print server which stores information about each job. To
accomplish this, I have set 'printing = sysv' so I can use print command.
Print command passes to a script some info including '%c' (page_count).
The problem is that if someone sends more than one copy of the document,
%c doesn't tell me so.
It means that %c tells exactly the number of pages sent

No printing - program in BPS Borland Pascal for Windows
Hello,
I am trying to use an accounting program specifically written for the management of local churches in Belgium.
The original program was written in BPW Borland Pascal for Windows. When a print command is given, absolutely nothing happens. When using the notepad under Wine, printing is ok.
I am wondering if someone has met a similar problem. What could I do to print the output of the

samba-3.0.0rc dc domain logon problem
I run for tests a domain controller and a samba server with
samba-3.0.0rc2. Domain users can authenticate locally on the domain
controller, but I get a logon failure when I try to list the shares on
the member server.
The error the user gets is: "session setup failed:
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" but digging the logs of the member server , I
get "domain_client_validate: unable to

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs,
I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I
would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question.
Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to
print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k
box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got
enough room for it

Hello Joel,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I tried use the same print command under UNIX as I
have in sam.conf, it works well.
Do you have any futher ideas? BTW, could you tell me
where I find docs about print using Samba2.2.2 and
W2K?
Thanks a lot,
Grace
What happens when you print a postscript file from the
samba server directly
using the same print command as you have in smb.conf?
