adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file
in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a
TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the
user is logged on?

adding printers from netlogon script
...add the
printer without installing. I know that it's possible to add a printer
(already installed) in this kind of LAN, because I've seen it (not
because of any Micro$oft KB). SO if you have the printer already
installed you would have only got to put something like this line:
net use \\printerserver\printer
but not this one because I've not really tried and I know it's not this
exact command for sure.

Linux and Printing via smbprint
Hi there
Looking at the archives I didn't find a solution to the following problem
we have here:
Printing from our linux-server (wagner) to an intel printserver (PS652D8F)
doesn't work.
Here's the stuff we know/tried:
wagner:~ # smbclient -L //PS652D8F -N
added interface ip=10.0.0.10 bcast=10.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.40 ( 10.0.0.40

Printer Problem
...e that I can't seem to solve. We use a crappy
piece of accounting software that requires the printer be set up with
spool settings as:
Start printing after last page is spooled.
If start printing immediately is set, the checks do not print correctly.
On a Windows computer, if I go to \\printerserver and then go inside the
printers folder, I can set the driver and default settings for the
printer. I can not get the "Start printing after last page is spooled"
setting to stick. When I select it, close the dialog and then check the
settings again, they go back to the default. Is...

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all.
I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and
everything works just like a charm - almost...
There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new
printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable
advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow
for printing multiple pages onto one page etc. Samba doesn't give any
errors, the settings is just cleared the next time I open the preferen...

untick the "Use Printer Offline"...)
But I need to make windows believe that i have a postscript printer

this time with the "Digital turbo printerserver 20/net"; (magicfilter on
the Linux side will take care of the postscript->epson conversion).
But printing through this printer does *not* work; it just queues up on
the windows side !? Even when trying to un-tick "Use Printer Offline",
windows claims that it cannot connect to t...

Printserver and Passwords
Hallo,
I must install a separatly printerserver for our PCs, a sun with solaris 2.5.
The Win95/98-PCs connect the server with samba (1.9.18p10). The server shall
not ask for a password if somewhere connect the printservices. But the server
allways ask for passwords, not only at the first time. This Problem is only for
win95, win98 works ok....

Hi,
try add a next two parametres to your printcap:
rm - machine name or IP for remote printer/printerserver
rd - remote printer name argument - raw, lpt etc.
For example :
rm:=20.0.0.15:\
rd:=raw:\

AW: Samba 2.2.8a :: High CPU usage and Printer
No, I don't.. I'm sorry I wasn't that clear in my last mail.
I'm running Samba only as file server. I haven't installed a
printer so far on Samba. The printers are installed on the
Windows 2000 server.
This server is a Domaincontroller, File- and Printerserver.
My problem is that any other pc has normal traffic rates
to the samba server, but the server is very slow.
One statement in the list was that this might be a "printer
port monitor" issue. I don't know what is meant by that and
I would like to know what else could be the reason,...
