Hardware PSTN Gateways?
I am thinking about setting up an asterisk PBX system for my company. But since I can't be at all the locations all the time I am setting up an automatic backup system where if the backup detects that the primay is down it takes over the IP so calls can be made once more. For this reason I want to setup a seperate HARDWARE PSTN Gateway. Are there any equiptment that can be plugged into the network, connected to a PSTN line and just act as PSTN gateway. It needs to handle both incoming and outgoing ca...

Or... Set the creator group option. [Daten] comment = Daten create mask = 3660 directory mask = 3770 path = /mnt/daten read only = No Greetz, Now you can more easy mix windows and linux acls. Test it Stefan, but file now created are now forced to set the "Creator group" its primay group, Which should be "Domain users" I suggest, create a few files from linux in the Daten folder. As root and as user. Now login and check with an other users from a windows pc. Should work, at least, works here for me. Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- &...

adding Windows client reverse dns entries
Once again, reading here and there and I am confused. I thought the W clients (both W7 and W10) reverse dns PTR records where added by the ADDC automatically. This mornings testing (nslookup of client IP addresses) is not finding clients via their IP addresses. (Forward lookups via hostname work fine.) Do we (users of samba4) need to add each W client to our dns servers? (Grated this would

Samba, AD, 'short' name resolving...
Hai, If the primary domain is set in windows, which is after domain join, it used that. Ipconfig /all and see primary DNS suffix. The dns suffix and first dns search list should be the same. Yes, other settings are possible, but stick to this for now. The Primay DNS suffix is used for the register of the IP in the DNS. The DHCP Service User MUST be a member of the DNSAdmins. The DHCP service User SHOULD NOT have the kerberos auth requirement (disable pre-kerberos auth), and disable password changes. Assuming the following. DHCP on all locations. Locat...

dos filemode (security concern)
Hi, I've a question about the 'dos filemode' option (samba 3.0.24, debian etch). I want to use this option to allow group members with write access to add/change permissions. man smb.conf: dos filemode (S) only the owner of a file/directory is able to change the permissions on it. However, this behavior is often confusing to DOS/Windows users. Enabling this parameter allows a
