OT:Question on gen-id.sh $id
Somewhat off-topic. I've noticed for some time, when one recompiles the syslinux, that it uses an id that is created by the gen-id.sh script that seems to be a hex string by making the id variable equal to the $tim variable. I had modified the script to append the the prexx of the directory to the $tim variable. Tested it with the pre15 and pre17 that came out today. The first one would pull out the pre after the -, but the second one which also works would also handle if the directory was without a pre, but does assume that format is constant? This way the hdt...

Slackware 4.0: wtmp and pty.c problems
...ssing with Makefiles and sundry to get programs to compile, and I'm NOT competent to plunge into the code and post a diff to the list. Also, I note that ssh -V always returns SSH Version OpenSSH-1.2.1, protocol version 1.5 Not that this is a real problem, but it makes it difficult to see what preXX version I'm actually running. Would adding this to the version output cause problems elesewhere? Thanks for any and all pointers! 2.0.5: problem with HUP reopening logs
rh60/caldera1.3 2.0.x (before 2.0.5) PROBLEM: samba didn't reopen then logs after HUP. I posted about this to samba-bugs; AT corrected the problem in 2.0.5-preXX, but not completely it seems. 2.0.5 PROBLEM: samba reopens the logs after a HUP but logs only the first connection to the new log, then it keeps logging to the old one. Here is what I see: # pwd /var/log/samba # smbclient|grep Version Version 2.0.5 # pidof smbd # ls -l total 0 # /etc/rc.d/ini...

gpxelinux.0 and slow HTTP performance on VMware ESX VM
Hi, first of all I would like to voice my deep gratitude to all syslinux developers for this really important software. I am using it in all my automation projects and could not manage without. Unfortunately now I stumbled upon a problem where I am out of my wits and need some help. The core problem is that HTTP transfers by gpxelinux.0 are very slow. Sadly this problem seems to be somehow
