LAST CALL for SYSLINUX 2.03-preX test reports
I will release SYSLINUX 2.03 this evening or tomorrow morning if I don't hear back soon. By the way, if anyone has outstanding known bugs that haven't been fixed in 2.03-pre4 I would like to hear about them again, as they probably have dropped off my radar screen. -hpa

New lwip prerelease
I just pushed out Syslinux 4.10-pre21. This prerelease version fixes gPXE virtio support... again, if you have had a system with problems on 4.10-preX, I would appreciate your testing it out. -hpa -- H. Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
...SLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin boot: . ISOLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 isolinux: Image checksum error, sorry... Boot failed: press a key to retry... ================================================================ I looked in the various testing/ dirs to try to locate a -preX for 3.05 to narrow down the exact version where it broke, but I was unable to locate -preX releases for 3.05. I read the isolinux.doc and NEWS to try to determine if the options have changed, but did not see anything relevant. I read I tried to search the mailing list for similar problems, but did...

[5.xx-6.01] broken PXE with HTTP
Hello With 4.06 this works fine all times. But with versions 5.1x-preX and 6.0x-preX, 6.01) does not work, random errors or nothing shows (netconn_write error -5), random behaviour. Only few times works (1/50...). Note that retriving files via TFTP works perfect in all cases. This happens using pre-compiled files in tarball and building for source. # dnsmasq --port=...

PXELINUX memory overwrite bug - SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 released
Hi everyone, Kevin Tran of Broadcom just identified a very serious bug in PXELINUX where random parts of the PXE stack would get overwritten by PXELINUX. As a result, I have release SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 for testing; if you have had problems with PXELINUX **PLEASE** test this version. I will try to make a SYSLINUX 2.00 some time this week if this tests out OK. I will also hunt for similar bugs

[5.10] serial console broken
Hello Since syslinux-5.10, serial console looks broken (nothing is displayed), at least using qemu-1.5.0/1.4.2. Versions 5.01 and 5.02-preX works OK. Relevant directive is on top of syslinux.cfg: -------------------- SERIAL 0 38400 ... ... -------------------- I guess something is worng due recent serial console changes. If you need more info, or revert some commit / git-bisect, please let me know. Thanks in advance. -- Gerardo...

Just stirring the waters...
Hi, now that Ingo+redhat have discovered the cause of the ext2 corruption under heavy load of 2.4.x a couple of -preX patches ago (BTW ext2/3 gurus - what is the difference between bforget() and brelse() - I'm a bit too dense to understand the explanation given in the -pre patch?) I wonder whether you folks are still finding heavy load corruption problems for 2.4? [My production servers are running ext3(6b)+...

[gPXE] localboot 0 hang on some machines
...f possible, for the computer types involved, I think. To be absolutely sure that there is actually a challenge to be overcome, the version(s) involved could benefit. I am not sure that failing on, let's say, gpxelinux.0 from Syslinux 3.83, then failing on the gpxelinux.0 from Syslinux 4.00-preX can give confidence that Syslinux 3.85 is broken. My impression is that 3.85 and 4.XX are separate development branches, though they can and do share some code. This impression could be mistaken. - Shao Miller

Ext3 problems possibly plauging me
Hello. My box has been running flawlessly for months now, but in the last 2 days hasn't stayed up for more than 5 minutes. All this seemed to have started after I did a very very bad thing...... I ran the EXT2 to EXT3 conversion on my root filesystem. I used the "tune2fs -j /dev/sda1" to do the deed. After it completed the machine ran fine (the machine was up and serving when I

Plans to rename wxruby-swig to wxruby2
...I plan to implement soon unless someone raises objections: 1. The new swig-based library will officially be named wxruby2. This will be used as the CVS module name, the gem name, the name for any packaging (e.g. Debian, RPM), and in most documentation. The version numbers will start with 2.0.0-preX, moving to 2.0.0-rcX, and then 2.0.0 proper. Of course, our rubyforge project will remain simply ''wxruby''. 2. The actual binary will also be named wxruby2.dll/wxruby2.so, to avoid conflicting with legacy wxruby binaries. 3. The package will include a wx.rb file which will act...

Unable to find linux kernel on ext4, filesystem-related root cause assumed
Dear all, I'm working on a shell script which is producing a bootable image file. It contains a populated MBR and a single file system (ext4) which again contains a debootstrabed debian stable distribution. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing problems with the bootability of the produced image. When selecting the installed system at the boot prompt, Syslinux responds with something like

[PATCH] pxelinux corrupts ipappend-ed paramaters...
...nt reboots too fast for orphaned tftpd process to time out. The latter problem is [suggested to be] addressed in two ways: a) port number can be randomized with timer value; b) pxelinux should discards datagrams submitted by orphaned tftpd process. The patch is applicable to both 2.08 and 2.09-preX. Please note that I'm not subscribed to the list, so keep me on Cc: A lot of thanks in advance. chain.c32 question
I'd like to use chain.c32 to allow the computer boot from HARDDISK if needed. If I use isolinux and boot from CD, the following works OK: chain.c32 hd0 But if I boot from USB Flash Key, it sometimes work and sometimes it doesn't and I have to use chain.c32 hd1 (it seems BIOS assigns hd0 to the flash key sometimes, so the real harddisk is hd1 in that case). Is there any way to tell

ext3 problem
Hello Does anybody know that Linux kernel 2.4.4 supports ext3 fs (module or embedded). I looked at the config menus, but I couldn't see ext3 support. I don't know whether the other ext3 modules work under a kernel which does not support ext3. I will try to insmod ext3 modules. I'm searching and trying newly built kernels. Any help or comments are welcome. Best regards Ardaulas

RxFAX - How to catch errors in the dialplan
...turn STATUS variable would be most welcome! I saw one dialplan example with RxFAX and priority jumping, where on jump to n+100 a retry, goto(n) was made. Does that make sense? I have seen no indication that RxFAX should support priority jumping or a j option. We use * 1.2.13. What about the 0.0.3-preX series? It was always said to be experimental and the 0.0.2 more for production use. Is this still valid, or should I try the newer 0.0.3 versions? We use current mISDN/chan_misdn, * 1.2.13, Linux kernel 2.6.13. Mostly RxFAX wokrs very well, and the users are happy with it! Best Regards:...
