Weak symbol/alias semantics
Hi Mehdi, Peter and David (and anyone else who sees this), I've been playing with some examples to handle the weak symbol cases we discussed in IRC earlier this week in the context of D28523. I was going to implement the support for turning aliases into copies in order to enable performing thinLTOResolveWeakForLinkerGUID on both aliases and aliasees, as a first step to being able to drop

Weak symbol/alias semantics
Hi, I believe we should get it right (and simpler) if (when…) we move to the representation we discussed last spring: https://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=27866 <https://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=27866> Our conclusion was that we should always have alias pointing to private anonymous and nothing else, so when we currently have: @a = global i32 0 @b = alias @a It should always

Dropping COMDAT with LTO
I've been digging into COMDAT with regular LTO, specifically in the context of the LLVM gold plugin. The GCC WHOPR documentation specifies that the linker will resolve all COMDAT groups to the IR-provided definitions, if available. Additionally it specifies that "When the WPA phase produces the definition of the COMDAT symbol in a new object file, that definition should not be in a COMDAT

RFC: Moving the module summary into the irsymtab
Hi all, I've been making a number of changes to the summary representation recently, and I wanted to lay out some of my plans so that folks are aware of my ultimate direction with this. Basically I want to move the summary into the irsymtab that we will be storing to disk after D32061 lands. This would help solve a number of problems: - To read a summary, you need to read all summaries in a

HABTM vs. using has_many :through
All, I''ve heard recently about has_many :through as a necessary alternative to HABTM (when the join table has it''s own id column, say, in a legacy schema). However, is the prevailing Rails wisdom now that one should use has_many :through in _all_ cases? If so, why? Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

lld + ThinLTO + fprofile-generate causes duplicate symbol errors
The problem is that ThinLTO is not dropping the non-prevailing definitions, and they end up being emitted into the object file for b.o. $ ../ra/bin/llvm-dis -o - b.o0.0.preopt.bc | grep __llvm_prof $__llvm_profile_raw_version = comdat any $__llvm_profile_filename = comdat any @__llvm_profile_raw_version = constant i64 72057594037927940, comdat @__llvm_profile_filename = constant [19 x i8]

Not too different from their corresponding last releases, but documentation has been filled in for both. To upgrade: gem install camping --source code.whytheluckystiff.net And, here is a complete changelog: == Camping 1.5 * Camping::Apps stores an array of classes for all loaded apps. * bin/camping can be given a directory. lld + ThinLTO + fprofile-generate causes duplicate symbol errors
Thanks Peter, your patch does fix the reproducer. I filed https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37422 to track this bug. I have no clue on how to resolve the tests - whether further cleanup is required in the code or in the tests. But if Teresa or you cannot get to it, I can, with some help, take a crack at fixing the tests. On Wed, May 9, 2018 at 11:26 AM Peter Collingbourne <peter at

plotting wind rose data
Hi List, I am trying to create a spatial representation of some wind data. I have the season, frequency, strength and direction of the wind from 10 different locations, the coverage of the area that I am interested in is not 100% there are small gaps in my coverage due to the location of the weather stations. I am trying to create a series of wind maps e.g. the Prevailing Winds, the maximum

plotting wind rose data (Karl Ropkins)
David, Following on from Jim Lemon's suggest that polar plots might be more what you need, there are both wind rose and polar plot functions in the openair package that might be of use (particularly windRose and polarFreq). They will not do everthing you are after without some careful conditioning or extra work with latticeExtra, but could get you some of the way there. Karl Ropkins,

selecting subsets of data from matrix
Probably a stupid question, but I don't seem to be able to find the answer I'm looking for from any of the R literature. Basically I have a matrix with several thousand rows and 20 columns(weather stations) of wind direction data. I am wanting to extract a matrix which contains data for all columns conditional on column 20 having a value of _either_ less than 45 or greater than 315. (ie I
