free dids on goiax.com
GoIAX, the Asterisk community's free IAX provider, is offering free US
dids now. I loaded about 175 dids in and put up a very beta sign in page.
Unfortunately I had to restrict the free us/canada outbound calling back
down to toll-free only. There was a lot of war dialing and prank
calling going on. I'm working on some stuff to hopefully curb that kind
of stuff down so I can unrestrict outdial again, but this is the problem
with free.. there is always someone that will abuse it.
If anybody has any ideas on how to keep the abuse down let me know. The
best ideas I ha...

Automating blacklists
Hi,
I've been reading all I can on Google (and Asterisk TFOT book) looking for
ideas on how to implement an automated blacklist feature.
I would like to automatically blacklist a incoming number based on timestamp
and count information.
For example, if I get a prank call from the same number 5 times within 15
minutes, I want my dialplan to automatically blacklist this number.
Should I be looking at AGI to do something like this?
Thanks for any ideas or pointers!

Extend logging of openssh-server - e.g. plaintext password
Also, if password-based auth is not allowed, WTF would you want to log passwords?
This whole idea is ugly, and smacks of a teenage-level prank attempt.
I would strongly object against any such modification of the main source (though I'm sure the maintainers are sane enough to never let such a crap in).
Of course the original poster is free to hack his own copy in whatever way he wants.?
P.S. This silliness underscores the value and...

[Fwd: Some interesting hashes]
Would somebody perhaps have some background on these tar files with such
interesting names? To my understanding, OpenBSD=4.1 == OpenSSHD-4.6.
Of course, this could just be a prank. Google knows about the mail
address this (presumably) came from since about mid-2007, so it
apparently has not been created just for the occasion..
Thanks in advance

Asterisk queues : command to run when a call is being bridged
Hi,
Is there any way to run a command (AGI script, whatever else) at that moment
when the call that was in the queue is being bridged to a specific agent?
An examples of what I would want to do with this is, for example, have
Asterisk ask the caller for his 4 digit customer ID before being put in the
Queue. Once I know who the caller is being connected to (which agent) I'd
run a

Re: Pentium CPU hang status report.
...so the temp of the processor indeed
should drop dramatically if it simply halts, and no more changes are
incurred in most of the processor.
At the moment it seems that:
- All Intel-socket7 processors are affected: Pentium, Pentium-MMX.
- Cyrix (= IBM) processors fall for a closely similar prank, but
that can be configured away. (Use set6x86 for this).
- AMDs are immune to this.
- 486s, Pentium Pros and Pentium IIs don''t fall for this.
- I expect 386''s to behave, Overdrive processors to fail.
Some claim this is really bad. But keep in mind that an...

percent rank by an index key?
What is the easiest way to calculate a percent rank “by” an index key?
Foe example, I have a dataset with 3 fields:
Year, State, Income ,
I wish to calculate the rank, by year, by state.
I also wish to calculate the “percent rank”, where I define percent rank as rank/n.
(n is the number of numeric data points within each date-state grouping.)
This is what I am

...y default, ssh does not call login(3). Find that in the docs under
UseLogin. Please Google that also.
FYI: Automatic lockout allows anyone to lock out any account by
guessing or knowing the name. This actually makes another easier way
for malicious gremlins to abuse your systems. My favorite prank is to
scratch out a fake warning to someone that they've been fired and
then lock out their account... no, I would NEVER do that...

How do I make Asterisk login at/use VoIP provider?
...in principle how to do this, but how does one dial out using a VoIP
service as defined in sip.conf ?
Then, is there anything else that needs to be done for VoIP ? Note, my
Asterisk is behind NAT, but I am not getting any incoming calls from
Nikotel (at least I don't want them as they're prank calls from online
voice chat lurkers) so I assume that I don't have to do any port
forwarding (it works without that using the softphone).
Again, my apologies if these questions seem rather stupid. I'd
appreciate any help. Thanks a lot in advance.

Norstar Integration with Asterisk via FXO or BRI ISDN
Hi,
I have a legacy Norstar system that I'm looking into integrating with my
Asterisk setup.
My first attempts have worked, which involves a Wildcard X100P FXO card in
the * box connected to the Internal ATA (FXS port) on the Norstar system.
Calling from SIP -> Norstar works fine, since the SIP caller initiated the
call and generally will be sane enough to hangup the phone when

amd 920824upl102 ignores the nodev option
...o another linux box on the
network. In addition, the default amd.conf from RH 4.1 maps /net/* to NFS
mounting, which makes the bug in amd an easily accessible security hole.
The Exploit:
A friend of mine who has an account on my machine found a major security
hole in amd when he decided to play a prank on me involving /dev/dsp at
odd hours, but found I had denied access to /dev/dsp and /dev/audio. He
assumed that I had forgotten to put the options nosuid and nodev in the
amd mapping for NFS (the default RedHat 4.1 mapping, which *does* have
opts=nosuid, nodev), so he created a char device on his m...
