Performance Issues
My apology for cross posting We have a DELL6850 with 8Gbytes of memory, four 3.2Ghz CPU's , perc 4 raid controller, with fourteen 300Gbyte 10Krpm disk on a powervault 220s, And a powervault 124T LTO-3 tape systems on a separate 160Mbyte/sec adaptec SCSI card. The disks are configured as two 2Tbyte raid 0 partitions using the perc 4 hardware. The problem is - reading from the disk, and writing to the tape is pathetically slow. The specs say I should get around...

cluster of 3 nodes and san
Hi list, I need a little help, I currently have a cluster with vmware and 3 nodes, I have a storage (Dell powervault) connected by FC in redundancy, and I'm thinking of migrating it to proxmox since the maintenance costs are very expensive, but the Doubt is if I can use glusterfs with a san connected by FC? , It is advisable? , I add another data, that in another site I have another cluster with proxmox with...

Corrupt inodes on shared disk...
I am having problems when using a Dell PowerVault MD3000 with multipath from a Dell PowerEdge 1950. I have 2 cables connected and mount the partition on the DAS Array. I am using RHEL 4.4 with RHCS and a two node cluster. Only one node is "Active" at a time, it creates a mount to the partition, and if there is an issue RHCS will fence...

gnbd help on centos
...et created can be mounted etc (well I might need to modprobe gfs before mounting) Anyways, what's the "correct" way of having this happen on boot? I've been reading the cluster docs, but I haven't found something that makes it click for me. Hooking up the poweredge to the powervault won't work, because eventually we're getting a third server, going to put the power vault into cluster mode and directly connect it to the powervault (thus the decision to use gfs initially, instead of just a "normal" file system and exporting via nfs). Any help would greatly...

pool-refresh on iSCSI pools does not actually rescan the bus
Hi, When I add a new LUN on an iscsi target and then issue a pool-refresh command on the respective storage pool in libvirt, libvirt will not find the new lun (or notice if luns have been removed). I'm using a Dell PowerVault MD3200i iSCSI Array to hold the volumes for virtual servers in libvirt. In libvirt, I have defined the storage pool as this: <pool type='iscsi'> <name>iscsi01</name> <uuid>52eb9c59-a7ac-a4e8-a26e-7ca112f0dd70</uuid> <capacity>85899345920</capa...

Samba 2.2.8a Large File Support Issues
...LAGS=-D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_GNU_SOURCE" My local file system does appear to support large files. I created a 2.6Gig file and viewed it using ls just fine. The volume is mounted using the following command line: mount -t smbfs -o username=********,password=******** //powervault/output_data /mnt/powervault/output_data Any assistance would be most appreciated. -- Bob McLaren

Windows 2003, Cygwin, and rsync
I just installed Cygwin / OpenSSH / rsync on two Dell PowerVault 745N NASes running Windows 2003 Appliance Edition. My rsync daemons are running, ssh works, and in theory all is well. But... I'm getting an average of maybe 15 Mb/s rsyncing between them. Now, I know I have an issue in the way they're connected... one is attached to a Cisco 2970 (1 Gb/s...

ext3 on Linux software RAID1
...g kernel 2.4.x. Currently we are running 2.4.16 on our producton system and we have a rather complicated hardware/software RAID configuration on the box. Now for the details of my system. See http://w3.one.net/~djflux/graphics/raiddiag.png for a graphic of our RAID configuration. We have 2 Dell PowerVault 220S filled with 15K 18GB SCSI drives. Each drive in PowerVault 1 is hardware mirrored to the corresponding drive in PowerVault 2. I then use Linux software RAID0 to create a stripe across these 12 drives (/dev/md0). This setup is kind of convoluted due to hardware restraints (a Dell PERC3QC RA...

Photoshop "Disk Full" error, a linux filesystem NOT Samba issue
...disk full error when saving from Photoshop but have no issues copying/moving etc files to/from the share outside of PS. Well, after some testing, the problem as been narrowed down to a Linux filesystem issue, well at lest this is my current thinking. To explain. ----------- We have 2 x 2TB Dell Powervault arrays, both identically formatted and mounted on the same Dell PowerEdge server, no issues. If i create a share on /dev/sdb, Photoshop will not save to that share, disk full error If i create a share on /dev/sdc, no problems. In both cases, the options for the shares are identical (apart from...
