hello, yet another powerd SOS : on an ASUS M3A78-EM MB with Phenom 9750 and 8 gig memory, starting powerd freezes the box after slowing down a bit cpu frequency. Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
I seem to be able to lock my machine by going into wpa_cli and asking it to 'reassoc'. The reason for question mark after "hard" is that debug information (caused by wlandebug and athdebug) is being printed on the console. The only way to get machine's attention is to hold power button for 8 seconds. Note: manual reassociation is just the handy way to reproduce the problem

powerd not behaving with an Asus A8V-MX and Athlon 64 X2 3800+
I have an Asus A8V-MX motherboard with an AMD Athlong 64 X2 3800+ CPU and I'm trying to run powerd to keep it cooler/quieter/greener. I'm running -STABLE (6.1-RC) cvsup'ed a couple of days ago, with a kernel config that consists of the SMP sample plus an atapicam device. I'm loading the cpufreq.ko module in /boot/loader.conf. I've attached my dmesg output and sysctl -a output...

Suspend/resume on IBM X31
...-s3" seems to work OK (although /etc/rc.suspend is still not executed) - I can suspend and resume and the machine keeps working. See: http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~sweetnavelorange/dmesg.1 for my dmesg after one successful cycle - there are a few warnings to do with firewire. However if I start powerd before suspending, I get the following extra kernel messages (hand transcribed): acpi_ec0: warning: EC done before starting event wait subdisk0: detached ad0: detached and any subsequent attempts to access the disk (eg. dmesg>/some/file, kldstat) produce errors of the form: g_vfs_done(): ad0s2e[...

Hello guys, Please help me to resolve the issue. local APIC error 0x40
Running FreeBSD 8.3 -- and updating sources on a daily base and building everything -- I found a new APIC/ACPI problem introduced in the past week. I have a Toshiba Satellite U205 with an Intel Core Duo (not a Core 2). It used to work fine with both cores but then sometime in on the road to BSD 8.0 the machine began hanging. So I added to /boot/loader.conf hint.apic.0.disabled="1"

(no subject)
Hallo friend of Samba in addition to the problem of Doug Jolley I recognized, that samba is very, very, very slow if MS-Access tries to access another MS_Access Database on the Linux Box, powerd with Samba. Normally I have tranfers between 3.500 and 4.500 kbytes/sec (writing) and 2.500 to 3.500 kbytes/sec (reading)! THe Client is a Athlon K7/1000 with 256MB and a 3C905 NIC running Win2K. The Server is a AMD K6-2/500 with 128MB Ram and a Intel100/Pro, running SuSe Linux 7.0, Kernel 2.2.18,...

incorrect configuration may cause instability
Hi, When two systems with the same name and key pair try to connect to a tinc mesh, the whole mesh is dossed. Situation: a vps is migrated to an other hoster. Access has been disabled, vps is powered on. Then suddenly after a couple of weeks the vps is powerd on again causing two vps'es trying to connect with the same credentials. I think the result should be that neither of those two nodes should be accessible but the result is that the whole mesh is not reachable. Time Clock Stops in FreeBSD 9.0 guest running under ESXi 5.0
I've now seen this on two different VMs on two different ESXi servers (Xeon based hosts but different hardware otherwise and at different facilities): Everything runs fine for weeks then (seemingly) suddenly/randomly the clock STOPS. In the first case I saw a jump backwards of about 15 minutes (and then a 'freeze' of the clock). The second time just 'time standing

FreeBSD-9.1 would not boot on pentium3 laptop
Hello! I have an old Dell Latitude C800 laptop (with Pentium3 CPU in it). FreeBSD 6.3-STABLE was running fine on it, but I decided to update the machine to 9.1-STABLE. Well, neither my own custom kernel, nor even the official 9.1-RELEASE CD1 would boot... In both cases the boot process runs up to detecting uhub0, then either hangs forever or shuts off after a short while. Again, I thought I

6.4-PRELEASE sporadically panicking with fatal trap 12
Hello, I'm running 6.4-PRELEASE, last built on 2008-10-05 with /usr/src updated on the same day. I had a panic that looks to me very similiar to the one described here (hence the subject): http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2008-September/045405.html What caught my curiosity is the message: Unread portion of the kernel message buffer: acd0: WARNING - TEST_UNIT_READY read

shutdown -r / shutdown -h / reboot all hang and don't cleanly dismount
Hello -STABLE@, So I've seen this situation seemingly randomly on a number of both physical 9.1 boxes as well as VMs for I would say 6-9 months at least. I finally have a physical box here that reproduces it consistently that I can reboot easily (ie; not a production/client server). No matter what I do: reboot shutdown -p shutdown -r This specific server will stop at "All buffers

Hard(?) lock when reassociating ath with wpa_supplicant on RELENG_7
Hi Sam, do you know if there is anything done about cbb(4)? I have many wireless adapters with ath(4), but only the one based on PCMCIA is making problems on FreeBSD. I cannot boot my notebook with the device inserted into the port, or it will render the system unusable (100% load on cbb(4)). And all I can see is the following: Jul 12 14:58:39 link kernel: ath0: ath_chan_set: unable to reset

How to get remote access to domU console using VNC?
Hi all, I installed a paravirt CentOS 5.4 domU on a CentOS 5.4 dom0 environment. I compiled the domU kernel with framebuff console. But I couldn’t using VNC to connect to the domU console. The kernel boot message could print on the vnc console. But after the boot process, the console appears on the text console in dom0 again. The configfile is as follows: vfb = [

Need help with Tripp Lite SMART1300LCDT NUT v2.7.3
So when the UPS is communicating with the driver... it seems to work.? Problem is now that it keeps disconnecting.? Any recommendation on how to keep the drivers from disconnecting using the usb_set_altinterface?? (PS.? Is there a specific value to use?)? Or this confirms there is an issue with the usbhid-ups driver with the FreeBSD 10.2 kernel? upsc upstl1300 battery.charge: 100

ALTQ and cpufreq(4)
Hello, I've met some quite strange reboots recently on my home gateway. I'm trying to reduce its power consumption, so I've loaded the cpufreq(4) driver, and enabled powerd. After this the box started to reboot randomly all over the place. I started to think what can cause the trouble, removing the cpufreq(4) support would be too trivial, so I've removed the ALTQ references from my pf.conf, and surprisingly these accidental reboots gone away. My guess is ALTQ has...
