APC Powerchute Network Shutdown, or APC Symmetra
Hello.
We've got an APC Symmetra with a network management card.
We'd like to run Powerchute Network Shutdown on some of our older Linux servers, but no dice.
I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to make NUT work with the network mangement card (it's a TCP connection, not SNMP or cable), or
knows of any alternate PCNS clients
Also, I was wondering if anyone on the list has h...

Does NUT include support for older UPSD servers?
I have a network with two older systems protected by APC UPSs. Both
systems run OS/2 and will continue to do so. Both systems have APC
PowerChute Plus 4.2.3 installed and I can use that software to monitor
and control both systems.
I am also now running several linux systems, in fact I spend almost all
my time on the linux systems and these OS/2 systems are servers running
in the background which need to be protected. Thus I would like...

Newer APC Back-UPS spurious events
...nds before returning to simply OL. So far this has always
been the case: the strange status only appears for usually less than
1 second, occasionally a little more but never yet more than 2
seconds.
I went to the effort of installing a Windows VM, passing USB through
to it and trying APC's own Powerchute Serial Shutdown software in
there. This software does not report any spurious events. Both
Powerchute and nut do report true events that I induce. A self-test
of the device passed. I am unable to demonstrate any behaviour that
APC consider incorrect, because they are only interested in what

preventing automatic reboot
Hello,
I'd like to prevent my servers from rebooting when power comes back after a
power failure. With powerchute (which I used before), there is an "automatic
reboot" parameter. Is there an equivalent with nut ?

Need help
...und out about NUT tonight. I messed around with fink and macports but get stuck very soon.
I dont know how to install anything that doesnt have a .dmg or .pkg installer.
Does anyone have a step by step (written in "for dummies" format on how to get this all to work? Just looking for a PowerChute alternative that actually lets me control and monitor my UPS, not dealing with all this code stuff.
Any help appreciated.

newhidups/APC: load always 0?
...ther gear connected, yet the load
stays at 0.0 when checking with nut.
driver.version: 2.0.5
driver.version.data: APC/CyberPower HID 0.9
driver.version.internal: 0.30
ups.conf:
[desk]
driver = newhidups
port = auto
desc = "Desk UPS"
I have not tried Windows with PowerChute yet to see if it is reported
corretly there; other values in the UPS data seem to be correct and
valid.
Any clues? bug in NUT? bug in UPS?
Thanks,

apcsmart: doesn't detect missing battery on Smart-UPS 2200 RM
...ugreport.cgi?bug=707223
It's a bit of a corner case, and it's for NUT 2.6.4 (apcsmart driver v3.04), but I was wondering if it was still applicable for the latest code?
"nut reports 100% battery charge after unplugging the battery on a Smart-UPS 2200 RM (SUA2200RMI2U) using apcsmart.
Powerchute correctly reports the missing battery. The front panel displays 0% charge and change battery is flashing.
The Smart Protocol commands B (Battery voltage) and f (Battery level) report false values of 55.35V and 100%.
The missing battery might be indicated by register values:

Success report: APC Back-UPS RS 800
...lt: No test initiated
ups.vendorid: 051d
khali at mahadeva:~>
Everything looks OK as far as I can tell, except for battery.date. If
the string is returned directly be the UPS then I guess there's not
much that can be done though. For what it's worth, the utility that
comes with the UPS (PowerChute Personal Edition) doesn't seem to
display this information (or at least I couldn't find it.)
I'm not too sure about ups.delay.shutdown either; a negative value
there looks strange, but maybe it has a special meaning?
As far as the hardware is concerned, the Back-UPS RS 800 seems to w...

Old APC SmartUPS 1250, Nut 2.2.2 Fedora 9
...ll,
I've got two APC SmartUPS's that behave differently with nut, I have a
SmartUPS1400 & a SmartUPS1250.
I'm fairly sure this isn't a nut problem but more likely a problem with
the age of the SmartUPS1250 and the apcsmart driver not being able to
identify it. Under the APC Powerchute software the same monitoring &
command parameters are available for both UPS's but not with nut. Is
there a way of being able to monitor voltages/load etc on the SmartUPS1250?
Here is the apcsmart debug output for the old 1250:
# apcsmart -D -D -D -D -D -D -D -D -D -a smartups1250

APC UPS wrong input voltage
...re
as it looks like it's a NUT issue.
Original question:
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/apc-ups-reporting-wrong-input-voltage.60888/
the nut driver is reporting the wrong input voltage. I am in the UK, 230V
but it's reporting circa 108.
If I connect it to the laptop and run powerchute it reports the correct
voltage.
AFAIK, the driver is the correct one.
Anything I can try to get this corrected?
Thanks.

Query SNMP
Hello,
I want to collect the same statistics that NUT can provide via SNMP.
But, I don't have the special card, and would want to use the serial
port to get the data. How does this work? I have tried, but so far no
luck. Any ideas?
Thank You.

APCsmart serial port problem
I have a new APC Smart-UPS SUA2200RM2U. I've had no success with the
manufacturer's PowerChute software and smart signaling, so I have
decided to try NUT. The smartups driver can't make contact through
the serial port.
Since this is rack-mounted, it comes with a 940-1524 serial cable.
As far as I can tell, this is supposed to work with smart signaling.
Here's my ups.conf:

Trying to update the official docs for nut on FreeNAS - help needed to ensure it's written correctly
.... Are there any
crucial setup points you find important/necessary to get it working well,
or other comments on your config?
5. The FreeNAS UPS service GUI has fields marked "monitor user+pw". Some
web references seem to suggest they contain the users defined externally in
the UPS through Powerchute/WebUI, other sources suggest they are used
internally by the nut client to communicate with a nut daemon. Nobody
(including the team itself) actually seems to be very sure which is
somewhat intriguing! To save dabbling in the codebase, does anyone happen
to know for sure what the data in these fie...

APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown

? ? 1. Battery must be at 100% capacity when the Runtime Calibration is initiated/started. (charge the UPS for 24hours prior)

newbie: Slackware servers w/ AP9617, AP9606
.../2006-January/000585.html
which implies I should install:
net-snmp
NUT
and that I need to configure ups.conf. Will that work?
I must confess I'm a newbie as far as SNMP is concerned, though I've messed with Slackware a fair bit, and I've set up several Windows servers with APC's PowerChute Network Shutdown software.

APC SmartUPS 750 (SUA750) missing ambient data with usbhid-ups
...is some communication going on
over the USB interface.
Newer servers around here seem to lack serial ports, so I really need
to migrate to USB monitoring, but the lack of environmental information
via usbhid-ups is a deal breaker.
If I connect the same USB cable to a Windows laptop with APC's PowerChute
Business Basic (which came with the UPS), I can read the ambient temperature
and humidity, so the data is available on the USB link.
Any ideas on how to get usbhid-ups to pass along the same data in Linux?
Thanks,

New Mac OS X UPS monitoring driver
...ile the UPS recovers from a deep discharge. There is
currently no Low Battery signal from the OS prior to a shutdown,
although it could be synthesized after one of the shutdown warnings. I
would like to add that to a future release. I am also curious if
people have tried third party drivers such as PowerChute (which might
not populate this data store).
Note that this is orthogonal to the problem of other NUT USB drivers
being unable to attach to an UPS when the OS has already claimed it.
That problem has already been solved, but I just need to find some
time to integrate that with our autoconf setup....

APC SmartUPS switches off with no reason
Hello
One our customer has two Linux HP-branded servers powered from "clasic"
APC Smart-UPS 2200 RM 2U (p/n SUA2200RMI2U). It is connected to first
server via RS232c port with APC-branded cable. We have installed NUT
2.6.4 with apcsmart driver. This setup works fine for months. Two weeks
ago all the hardware powered from the UPS started to switch off
occasionally while on line
