where did these come from?

I have powerbroker which I use on this domain and I can easily check which
groups have ids and 8000 is as low as they go when I sort them.
My domain admin does not have a gid
my domain users does and I see it in both listings
Here is my smb.conf

I have seen mentioned in other posts that when joining a DC with your
linux client there is a way to do it and NOT use Powerbroker Open (new

Where do I find this procedure?

Problems with Login on Samba 4
I implemented Samba 4.2.2 on my network 2 weeks ago.
I created an image of Ubuntu 14.04 with the PBIS (PowerBroker Identity
Services Open
) installed and configured to include the stations in the domain. This
image was install in 250 workstations and everything was working perfectly,
but the computers didn't appear in the MS RSAT as domain members, because

Why put another layer on top of winbind ?
PAM is only tricky to setup if you *don't* use the OS tools, authconfig
on red hat, just installing the various pam packages on debian.

Sometimes I wonder why all the time is spent on keeping the samba wiki
updated. Likewiseopen was replaced sometime ago by PowerBroker Open, I
cannot recommend using either of these, because quite simply, they are
not needed.
Check the following files:
