T1 to T1 on asterisk?
Hi all, To solve my need for dial in modems, I've hit upon an idea: buy a used T1 "analog" modem bank like a Lucent Portmaster that takes in a T1 and provides several 56K modems. This is overkill for a lightly used dial in service, but the prices of these boxes is so cheap (~$300) with ISPs going away from dial in service that it makes sense. This is how I imagine it would work: Asterisk PC with one TE410P 4 port T1 c...

PRI for Data and Voice
Hi, Currently I only have 1 PRI which I am using for dial-in customers. The line is connected to a Portmaster3. I have never used more than 10 concurrent channels. The calls can be both analog or ISDN. It would be a waste to order another PRI for my Asterisk box. Is there any way of splitting a PRI into 2 PRI's of 15 channels each, or plugging the PRI into the * box and it send the data calls to the...

Connection astrisk to a RAS (portmaster)
Here's my planed setup : PRI from telco <--> (port 1 of A104d) * (port 2 of A104d) <--> PM3 The PM3, for those who don't know is lucent's portmaster RAS dial-up router. I had setup asterisk, zaptel, libpri, wanpipe (as I have sangoma's cards). In wancfg, I have port 1 as TDM_VOICE, with hardware echo on, span 1. Port 2 is TDM_VOICE, without hw echo, Clock as master, reference 0 (for the time being, I'm still not hooked up with my...

portupgrade(1) | portmaster(8) -- which is more effective for large upgrade?
...waited so long. Try as I might, I've had great difficulty finding something that will _only_ upgrade what I already have installed, _and_ respect the "options" used during the original make && make install, or those options expressed in make.conf. As portupgrade(1) && portmaster(8) appear to be the most used in this scenario, I'm soliciting opinions on which of these works best, or if there is something else to better manage this situation. Is there such a thing as a FreeBSD upgrade "easy button"? Thank you for all your consideration. --chris

Hi: The FreeBSD10-Beta3 kernel is recompiled successfully with the following in /etc/make.conf WITH_NEW_XORG=yes WITH_KMS=yes WITH_GALLIUM=yes But after installworld, there is no sight of new xorg-server-1.12.4 in pkg cache nor in /usr/ports: How to install new xorg and where is the source? # pkg search xorg linux-f10-xorg-libs-7.4_1 xorg-7.7 xorg-apps-7.7 xorg-cf-files-1.0.5_1

How to update ports tree indexes when using svn
Hi list, after the security announcement (http://www.freebsd.org/news/2012-compromise.html) I use svn to update my local ports tree. I've found out that the port index is not updated. What is the preferred/recommended way to update port indexes when using svn? Thanks, Serguey.

E1, E100P
hi guys, I have a little problem maybe you can help ... I have an asterisk setup, with an E100P, and an ISDN-PRI 30 channel line from the telco going into it .. the E1 line is OK, because plugged into a Lucent Portmaster 4 it works OK .. plugged into the asterisk box I just get an engaged tone, and asterisk posts this message on screen : WARNING[1167272000]: File chan_zap.c, Line 5275 (pri_fixup): Call specified, but not found? WARNING[1167272000]: File chan_zap.c, Line 5816 (pri_dchannel): Hangup on bad channel...

ports binary upgrade question for 9.2
Due to trip to make, I will have to wait few days to upgrade my nodes to 9.2 release. But, I'd like to learn the easiest way to handle ports. Thanks to Matthew Seaman, I will try out txz repos, when I find the correct address for that. Otherwise, I assume portmaster might do the job equally well. Reading manual, I guess flags like -P -a or -PP -a are made to fit? Next to think would be to recompile some ports on lap- top, having intel 3000 graphics. I did it with kms lines in make.conf, for 9.1. Does it change in new release? Compiling all ports was long and...

Echo Cancellation, TDMoE fails, X100P works
We have been pretty much able to solve our echo problems, except for the primary mode in which we desire to operate our system. See system diagram at bottom. Prior to making adjustments to cancel echos (all echocancel=no): Call Type Result (Before) --------- --------------- CP <- LEC PRI * TDMoE * FXO -> AP

Interfacing pri card to legacy pbx
Hi guys, Can I use a Sangoma a101 to interface a legacy pbx to an Asterisk server? The pbx doesn't have sip and I want to come in off of a sip trunk and interface with the older system. I know I can use a pri card to hook in to the phone network, but can I use this same card to feed back the signaling as if I were the phone company to the older system? Thanks, Tom

Anyone ever thought about an Ethernet based channel bank? Basically a rack mount set of 24 IAXys? That would be cool, IMO. No wrangling with zaptel, etc. IAX as the * <-> Channel bank protocol. Just an idea...

Multiple subnets
Hi all, I have a client that has 4 subnets within his building, internet, office, business center and wireless. My plan is to use Shorewall but I have never tested it with more than 2 interfaces. Is this possible? Would there be any issues that might arise. Each subnet would have access to the internet but there will be no communications allowed between the others. Thanks in advance....

Software FAX Modem--One Last Request For Help
...evice I transmit from or how I bring the call into Asterisk. My lastest effort was a call from a Pitney-Bowes FAX machine into an X100P on an analog extension off our Nortel Option 11C PBX. It's not the Nortel PBX--we have analog modems and faxmodems all over the place here, and even a Lucent Portmaster on a CT1, hanging off that PBX and all work fine. Besides, I've already tried several different faxmodems plugged directly into an S100U on the * box running RxFax, I've tried sending calls across my T100P, I've tried TDMoE on a lightly-loaded Ethernet segment, I even tried an IAX tr...

FreeBSD 4.x EoL
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 There has been a lot of discussion on these two mailing lists about the upcoming EoL of FreeBSD 4.x which I mentioned in my email entitled "HEADS UP: FreeBSD 5.3, 5.4, 6.0 EoLs coming soon". Now that everybody (hopefully) has had their say, I'd like to offer some background and explanation. The concept of "security branches"

packages (binary) update best practice
Hi all, I have update recently to freebsd 9.1 via freebsd-update and I was quite happy with the process and the instructions on freebsd-handbook, I think well documented. But I would like to understand what is the best practice to update the ports too as I used the package tools (pkg_add -r) to add few package to the base install. Keeping in mind my server have disk space constrain (small disk

curl and CVE-2013-2174
Dear members, It may sound a silly question. I have curl installed: # pkg_info |grep curl curl-7.24.0_3 Non-interactive tool to get files from FTP, GOPHER, HTTP(S) Today portsnap updated the ftp/curl port, and patch-CVE-2013-2174 appeared in files/, but the port version remained such that portaudit, and portupgrade still complain about curl's version. What is the recommended way to
