Can you use two offsets in gam (mgcv)?
Hello, I have been trying to find out whether it is possible to use more than one offset in a gam (in mgcv). The reason I would like to do this is to 1) account for area surveyed in a Poisson model of sightings of porpoises within defined grid cells (each cell has a slightly different area) and 2) account for detection probability within each grid cell (some grid cells are further away from the observer than others, and this affects the likelihood of seeing the porpoises). I would like to specify the model as somethi...

Unusable performance over WAN (part 2)
Hi all, Disregard my previous posts, I've consolidated everything here. I'm having terrible performance issues with samba over a WAN (point-to-point T1 link). Doing a copy of a 2MB file from a samba server to a linux client running smbclient takes over 5 minutes. SCPing the same file takes seconds. The server is running samba version 3.0.25c with kernel 2.6.16.18. I've put up a set

Riello UPs implementation for NUT software
Dear Sirs, I'm Massimo Zampieri responsible for the software and connectivity accessories for Riello UPS. I would like to list our UPS to NUT. For this porpoise we will provide to you all the information requested as serial protocols, end even some ups in case. We have 2 way to communicate with our ups via RS232 and USB (with our driver, but the source code will be provided in case) and via

Cumulative Link Models
Dear R community, I'm trying to analyze a model with an ordinal response variable. I wonder if clm()s (Cumulative Link Models) are appropriate in my case. The study compares parasite infestation of porpoises in 1995 and 2009. The degree of infestation is a rank (mild to severe, as ordered factor). In some parasite species clm gives meaningful results. But in one case I started to wonder. In the first study (1995) zero animals were infested by this parasite. In 2009 most animals were, some of which seve...

Question about async channel or macro for monitoring a call
Hi, Im trying to do this: 1) Originate a call between an external number and a ivr that do some things in background 2) after the originate I bridge the person that dial that extent with the external number I would like to have the ivr in background while the bridge is up for monitoring porpoises, but seems to stop processing when the local bridge is done other possibility could be having a Macro async?? when I make a dial and execute a macro I would like to put a while there and control some stuff, but until the macro is over I can?t have audio pass between the 2 channels that where d...

network package in R
Hi there, I need a network builder and it can change the node size and color; I am not sure if network package in R can do this or not. The other functions I wanted have been found in that package. BTW, if there is another package in R relating to this, please suggest too. Thanks, Weiwei -- Weiwei Shi, Ph.D Research Scientist "Did you always know?" "No, I did not. But I
