Polyspline Integration
Hello, I wrote the function below to integrate polysplines and thought that it may be useful to others. Please consider this code released under the GPL2 or later. Thanks, Bill <<integrate.polySpline.R>> Notice: This e-mail message, together with any attachments, contains information of Merck & Co., Inc. (One Merck Drive, Whitehouse...

Piecewise
Hi, I am a biologist (relatively new to R) analyzing data which we predict to fit a power function. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to model piecewise functions in R, where across a range of values (0-x) the data is modeled as a power function, and across another range (x-inf) it is a linear function. This would be predicted by one of our hypotheses, and we would like to find the AICs

Multiple Reponse CART Analysis
Dear R friends- I'm attempting to generate a regression tree with one gradient predictor and multiple responses, trying to test if change in size (turtle.data$Clength) acts as a single predictor of ten multiple diet taxa abundances (prey.data) Neither rpart or mvpart seem to allow me to do multiple responses. (Or if they can, I'm not using the functions properly.) > library(rpart)

Possible to use array of spline functions for storing data?
Dear listeRs; I am hoping to provide myself the ability to interpolate mortality estimates within intervals for a range of conditions and ages. I have four mortality tables derived from the Society of Actuaries 2001 VBT tables that contains interval mortality rates by starting age and year of duration. I would like to flexibly interpolate using a large set (~4MM) of ages and conditions

predict(backSpline(x)): losing my marbles?
I'm sure I'm doing something completely boneheaded here, but I've used this idiom (constructing an interpolation spline and using prediction from a backSpline to find an approximation profile confidence interval) many times before and haven't hit this particular problem: r2 <- c(1.04409027570601, 1.09953936543359, 1.15498845516117, 1.21043754488875,

Exporting objects plotted with plot3d() - rgl package
Dear all, Can anybody tell me how to export a 3d figure made with the plot3d function? I'm careless about whether it's still interactive or not in another format, as long I can get it out of R. Installation of rpm file on Suse Linux 6.2 (PR#449)
Full_Name: Luzi P. Schucan Version: R-base-0.90.1-2.i386.rpm OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (141.84.136.129) I just wanted to install the rpm package with rpm --v -i [file], and here is the log: (I DID run it as root!!) (the important thing is in the end: there must be a bug in the post install script. The problem is, that it does install all the files, but it doesn't correctly hang the
