Backup Solutions based on Linux
I'm having particular issues running Veritas in my Windows environment. The
agent just seems to baulk on some servers. I've looked into backup solutions
running on Linux before but there doesn't seem to be much. Is anyone
familiar with something that has Windows agents and yet managed by Linux?

SuperServer 6024H-82R and Centos 3.3
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any familiarity with this
server? It uses the Super X6DH8-G2 motherboard. Currently, we've added an
Adaptec 2120S Ultra320 RAID PCI Controller Card to get RAID 5 capability. The
installation bombs and from what I can tell it looks like we're getting SCSI
resets or the controller is going offline maybe. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Apache
Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I
want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q
apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to
S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running.
So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed?

PHPBB+Centos
I'm having a hard time getting PHPBB installed on Centos. We get the error
that The PHP configuration on your server doesn't support the database type
that you chose. We choose MySQL 3.x but get that error. Perhaps PHP4 isn't
compatible with MySQL 3.23.58-1?

Question about YUM
Pardon my ignorance, but if I update or install a package via rpm will YUM
pick that up in subsequent updates? Or should I be using YUM for installs if I
plan to use it for updates?

And another....Webmin
Is anyone using Webmin with CentOS? I've always found it works very well with
RHat Linux. I've not used RHEL so I'm not sure. I know on my SuSE server it
doesn't seem to work well and suspect there are some location problems.

clamav-milter verification on Centos 3.3
Hello!
I'm running clamav-milter, clamd, and sendmail on CentOS 3.3 (RHEL3). I'm
trying to verify that my milter works. I've sent test emails from
testvirus.org but they don't appear to be getting flagged. I don't see
anything in the logs to indicate they were. Is there a sure-fire way to know?
Also, how should the clamd work? Does it watch the filesystem? Or will it only
work

Network interference? Settings?
I have a problem. I've purchased 2 different brand NAS devices that both use
Samba in some form as their "sharing" mechanism. When I attach them to the LAN
I get dreadful speed. To the tune of under 3.5GB per hour transfers. I've even
done tests on the same subnet. Two Windows servers on that vlan can move files
at great speeds. Map one of them to the NAS and it crawls. I recall

No log for hitting login_max_processes_count?
I think today just due to increased use, my mail servers hit
login_max_processes_count. It wasn't obvious what was happening, logins
just weren't acting like they should and sometimes would get
disconnected before given a prompt from the server. Something made me
think to check if I had too many of certain dovecot processes and I
found I had 128 imap-login processes on both servers,

Newbie question on Rsync on Solaris
I want to replicate between two Solaris hosts. The source is Solaris 2.6
and the target is Solaris 2.8. Using rsh, the basic program seems fine (not
running in daemon mode), but I have a problem.
The directory tree is about 150,000 files, with about 5 gb of data. I
tar'd the directory and moved it to the other side, but when I run an rsync
against that directory, it still wants to move
