Accu-Chek Compass
...programme 'Accu-Chek Compass'. It is a programme for diabetics, that downloads data from a meter, and then graphs it in all sorts of ways. The Programme installs correctly, but when I try to run it, it just flashes on the screen for a split second, and exits. Any help would be nice.... Plod.

Megatec serial UPS woes
....0 00000001 Signal 2: exiting I can now see what is in "buffer" and it looks like just a few leading characters might just be missing! So now I am at a loss of how to resolve this problem! I'm not the greatest C programmer. I can read it and it makes sense but writing it is a real plod! Any ideas as to what to try next? trouble building 4.0.1
I finally decided to build 4.0.1 on my OpenSuSE box. I''ve been plodding along and resolving issues/dependencies as needed but now I''m stumped. While building I get the following message: cc1: warnings being treated as errors netfront.c:41:32: error: variably modified ‘tx_freelist’ at file scope netfront.c:44:34: error: variably modified ‘rx_buffers’ at f...

Debugging SFTP question
...massively ? >From looking at the code, it would seem the server is merely responding to the request from the client, but I dont understand what would make the client 'skip' from offset 48136192 to offset 110755840 and from request 1472 to 3383 - as the client code looks like its just it plods through the file. command-line dialplan "compiler"
Hello listers, Still plodding along in the 1.4 tree, though I've started to dabble in 1.6 land. Today's adventure involves a 2600 line dialplan. My friend Google only points me to an antique java script and a bunch of GUI dialplan creators. What is out there that will point out dialplan errors/problems besides jus...

Is there a way I can get an unsopported app working in Wine?
I use Ubuntu 8.0.4 I have XP installed in another partition. I want to use Ability Office version 5 from Ubuntu. I have installed Wine, and this seems to work - I can run other Windows apps through it. I can install Ability fine using Wine, and it's small launcher app works fine - but when I run the proper Ability programs I get loads of missing DLL errors. Is there anything I can do to

Problem with file ownership/permissions on WinXP client
...otherwise I shouldn't be able to "map the drive". I have tried various ways of mapping "login as different user" creating a user account on the Windows computer with identical login name, passwd info, etc, and all of these ways "work". I am an end user, and I can plod my way through Unix sys adm stuff, but I don't have much experience with Windows. Any help will be apprecaited. --

CentOS AWS AMIs?
Hi list, I've noticed that instance-backed AMIs no longer seem to exist for the 'official' CentOS images, though the EBS ones are fine.. Looking at the wiki (http://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS), the AMIs listed on marketplace are slightly newer than what's listed on the wiki, so just wondering if something got overlooked after the last build? Cheers, -- Richard Clark richard at

Samba docs
Hi, especially John H. T :) I'm yet again plodding through chapter 14 of the Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf. Not because I can't make what's in it work for me, I did that long ago, I found out for myself, because a great deal of what's in it is wrong. I just got fed up with trying to get Nagios to work - I gave up, for various reasons a...

Samba3 by example problems
...not display which I assumed to be correct Section 5 is also problematic. root# smbclient -L localhost -U% Times out and if the smbd log is checked it falls over in trying to have chatties with the ldap server which is needless to say not running. Ofcourse the net command fails as well. I then plodded on and did the config of the ldap server and got it up and running. This is in LDAP Initialization and Creation of User and Group Accounts section 1. I used service ldap start - being redhatish I then reran the sbclient -L massive -U% command, Worked as advertised. I could then run the net co...

learning the cron module
OK. I thought I would start by looking at how cron.rb in the puppet lib/type works because what I''m trying to accomplish is similar. However, when looking through that, it wasn''t immediately obvious to me how or when the resulting cron file was getting written out. Is this getting stored up in some instance var or something? Maybe getting sent to standard out and some

Will Firefox 2.X be included/supported in CentOS 5?
I know this mostly depends on what is/will be done upstream, but with the recent announcement that Firefox 1.5.X will only receive updates until April 24, 2007, is Firefox 2.X in CentOS' future? Alfred

Metadata format.
Hi. Seeing as the topic appeared a while ago I was wondering: How do people feel about adopting ID3v2 for Vorbis aswell. This would, of course, mean it's given a stream of its own and even allow interleaving. It could be usefull, seeing as it would cut down on both initial development and software support, since a lot (most?) audio players already support it. It could also allow for code

Hello, I have some problems with RODBC and Excel in Win98 I am using R 1.6.2 and just upgraded RODBC to the last version on CRAN. AIX 5.1 rsync large file
Hello, I have inherited a setup where there are 2 AIX 5.1 systems in 2 separate sites. There are large database files that are backed from each site to the other via rsync. Currently, it is using rsync version 2.5.4. It does it via ssh with the options -avz. This has all been merrily plodding along for some time. There is one file that is over 45 GB, and it started having trouble with that file. I don't know what the size of the file was before it started having trouble or if they made a bunch of changes in this .dbf fille before it started having trouble. There are other lar...

Search large XML file -- REXML slower than a slug, regex instantaneous
Got a question hopefully someone can answer - I am working on functionality to match on certain nodes of a largish (65mb) xml file. I implemented this with REXML and was 2 minutes and counting before I killed the process. After this, I just opened the console and loaded the file into a string and did a regex search for my data -- the result was almost instantaneous. The question is, if I can get
