help ith burncd (Input/output error, 6.1-RC, plextor PX-740a)
I have a new system which includes a Plextor PX-740a DVD+-R/RW CD-R/RW drive attached to an Asus A8V-MX motherboard. When I try to use burncd to burn a cd, it writes all of the data, says "fixating CD, please wait.." and then reports burncd: ioctl(CDRIOCFIXATE): Input/output error Oddly enough, the CD seems to be usable. I can...

Drive use in wine
...loppy and CDs drives for my floppy, CD and CDRW. I am automounting the devices. 1. I've noticed that if I don't have a floppy or CD in the drive wine ignores it and even if I insert a disk later the app (notepad) never sees it. 2. I have two CDs, one a Creative DVD and the other a Plextor CDRW, and I've created the entries for both in wine.conf (see below). I can't get wine to see the second drive, the plextor. I get this FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock Could not stat /auto/cdrw (No such file or directory), ignoring drive I: However, the drive h...

EAC + FLAC bitrate question?
...et received an answer from my post on that page. Since they are closely related I thought I would give it a try here. I just bought a BIG stack of CDs (70+) and decided to recheck all of my EAC (beta 4) + FLAC (1.1.2) settings prior to ripping and encoding them. I also calibrated a new external Plextor CD-ROM too. The setting string I use in EAC's "External Compression" window is: -8 -V -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" -T "comment=EAC Secure_Lossless FLAC &qu...

cd archival (revisited/again)
...ormat flavor of the month for portables. would also like to have a small computer integrated into home theater system so i can do digital audio out and IR remote control. (playstation2 seems ideal except for the cost of linux). ok, so nothing new, but i'm trying to do a good job, so i have a plextor drive and so far i've only found one ripper that supports the plextor perfect audio extraction - cdrdao driver=plextor-scan. can't beat it. you do 2 consecutive rips and md5sum's are the same. this means i'm stuck with toc files and toc2cue seems a bit orphaned. it created zero...

Hi, A little question : I use two Plextor drives to rip an Audio Cd. All the files are strictly identical in size and content with the two drives...except the last one; they are identical in size, but when comparing their content, I receive a message saying one is more recent! I really don't understand how it's possible, it must be...

Disk error 00, drive F0
...it gives me this error message: ISOLINUX 1.66 2002-01-01 isolinux: Disk error 00, drive F0 Boot failed: press a key to retry... My system has an ASUS P2B-F motherboard. I've tried with the latest stable (1013A) and the latest beta (1014F) BIOS for the board, same result. My CD-ROM drive is a Plextor PX-32TS Rev. 1.03. I've tried going through some of the sources of ISOLINUX to discover the meaning of the error code above, with no luck. What exactly does it mean? What's wrong? Is there any way to fix it? Flac-dev Digest, Vol 70, Issue 5
Hi Ivailo The problem with an embedded CUE sheet is that this requires 2 preconditions. 1 - that the FLAC files are taken from an Audio CD, and 2 - that a drive is used such as a Plextor that can manage to do this properly. Neither condition applies here. The files I needto turn into FLAC files are 24 bit 48kHz streams that exist as WAV files on HDD. They are not from CD - I keep trying to explain this. I cannot see in thedocumentation any way to create an embedded CUE sheet un...

Please recommend a DVD writer for CentOS 4.1
Hi. I need to install DVD writers in a CentOS box as part of a backup setup. I want as little fuss as possible both with HW recognition and functionality. Can any of you recommend a vendor/product ? Performance of the drive is not an issue. I get confused looking at all the "+/-RW +R double layer yada yada" when skimming the hardware lists.. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

DVD Shrink - no DVD devices found
I am new to Wine and really struggling. I'm trying to get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter running on my Kubuntu 5.04. My system is current. I have a 2.8Mhz machine with 1Gb memory and lots of space on my 160Gb hard drive. I have a Plextor DVD+-RW and an HP CD-RW. They are /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd respectively. Here is my /fstab file: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> proc /proc...

FLAC CD Archive
Hi, Bit late to join in the discussion but I've just read through the CD archiving discussion and was particular interested in Dax's method, described here (also included below): http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac/2006-September/000611.html So far I've just been flac-ing my CDs to individual one-flac-per-track files, however it appears I've been missing some of the other bits

Curious
...me it clearly : You must know that I create an NTFS partition, for only coding my CD's in FLAC (for home using) and in MP3 (for car using). My partition inculudes some directories called WAV, FLAC and MP3, amongst others, for personal and paranoiac purposes (double extractions on two different Plextor, and so on...). When I encode a file contained in the WAV directory (after adapting the tags in the configurator of the FLAC frontend), the FLAC produced in the FLAC directory HAS A TITLE (taken, of course, in the part of the filename following the -). If I now, copy the WAV file in the root direct...

Sata DVD
List, Are Sata DVD drives/recorders supported in CentOS, and if so, what needs to be done to read/write to them. On my initial install, the machine would boot from the drive, but I wound up having to use a regular ide cd-rom drive to do the install. The drive in question is a Plextor 716. Sure a waste of a good drive if I can't get to it. Thanks.. -- Snowman

Audio CDs not detected by winecfg, and dbpoweramp CD Ripper
...be invisible to winecfg. I want to use dbpowerramp CD Ripper under Linux using WINE. CD Ripper doesn't see audio CDs, too. I am using WINE 1.3.33, Ubuntu 11.10 64bit. Ubuntu itself correctly identifies the CD drives, and the Audio CDs. The CD-Rom-Drives are internal ATAPI drives, and external Plextor drives connected via firewire. If I put _data_ CDs into those drives and mount them, winecfg sees all these drives (even the external ones). So accessing data CDs via WINE does work. The CD Rom Drives are represented by /dev/sr* and mirrored to /dev/sg*. Rights seem to be correct, "rw"...
