Packaging an Application on Mac OS X with Platypus
Platypus (http://sveinbjorn.sytes.net/platypus) is an application that takes a shell script and packages it as a clickable Mac OS X application. I would like to have a clickable application that executes the command "script/server" and displays the output in the text window, alongside with a &...

Wine and Platypus
Some time ago, I posted some questions/statemets to -users and -devel about getting Platypus (the ISP billing software) running under wine. I received zero responses, but did a fair bit of hacking on my own. Due to the number of requests for information I've gotten about this, I've decided to post my work publicly. This will hopefully be maintained in online archives, so future...

wine and Platypus
I've been trying to get Platypus (the ISP billing software by Boardtown) working under wine on-and-off for the past couple of months. Last time I checked, there were some Visual FoxPro problems. Those have now been resolved, but I get an 'insufficient memory' error as soon as Plat tries to contact the SQL database....

TINC and REDHAT
...ownloaded the tinc-1.0pre3 and compiled it - it seems to work fine. I tried your tinc start script in the redhat directory, first adding the MyOwnVPNIP = 10.1.3.1/16 VpnMask = 255.255.0.0 to my tinc.conf file as suggested. But now when TINC is invoked, tinc exits with the following error. [root@platypus tinc-1.0pre3]# /usr/local/sbin/tincd -n wurley.vpn Failed to read `/usr/local/etc/tinc/wurley.vpn/tinc.conf': No such file or directory [root@platypus tinc-1.0pre3]# ls -al /usr/local/etc/tinc/wurley.vpn/tinc.conf -rw------- 1 root root 353 Jan 16 23:05 /usr/local/etc/tinc/wurl...

easiest markdown to PDF conversion
I'd love to hear everyone's favorite way to convert markdown to PDF. I'm looking for the easiest, most straightforward option. >From what I've gathered, the method needs to include something like LaTeX in order to have it paginate correctly, so I'll need to install that as well. Is this correct? When I've used the simple export-to-PDF options in Marked, MMD

Plurals in English (was Re: ClamAV reports a trojan)
...plurals. Some think opctopi is the plural of octopuses, when it wouldn't be because it's Greek and not Latin anyway... To whit: the belief many have that the English plural of virus is virii, when in fact if anything it'd be afaik viri - which it isn't. my 2c. Pete. Star Wars Empire at War opens blank text box instead of game
After installation of Star Wars Empire at War and it's Expansion with the latest version of Wine, the game will not start up. I click on the icon and a blank text box shows up instead of the start of the game. I have the latest versions of Wine, Ubuntu and I just got winetricks. I have tried changing the Library with all of the items there. I have tried adding the .exe to Applications,

USAGE OF ADD USER TO GROUP SCRIPT
Hi list I've started playing with Samba 3.0.20b (compiled with only with --with-acl-support). It's a fresh install on a clean machine and samba is setup as a Standalone server, I've tried using the TDBSAM and SMBPASSWD backends (don't have access to an LDAP server). At the moment I am testing - I have not got as far as using any of the new privilege options. All administration of
