potential enterprise rails project
...anything that would limit
the design for future migration to ASP.NET at a later stage ?
4) For a compromise solution is it possible/sensible to run C#/ADO.NET
for the core business logic, and Rails for the basic data entry
interfaces
and reporting *simultaneously* on the same database. This would placate
some of the concerns re enterprise readiness.
Thanks for listening, and many thanks for any responses.

sieve vacation to an alias group
Because its not actually a vacation, we are using it as an auto response
feature.
Its a support group that should auto respond to the customer automatically
for the first time.
If there is another method to achieve this, then we are more than happy to
change our setup.
Thanks

...not actually a vacation, we are using it as an auto response feature.
Have you considered that your users hate auto-response messages and that "we got your mail" is basically saying "we'll get around to it in a much longer amount of time than seems reasonable, so we?re trying to placate you by sending you a useless auto-response"?
I mean, that's how I view auto-responses; they instantly lower my perception of the company.

Ms Exchange vs dovecot
The U.S. government is lawless and the Cloud Act is meaningless, like
U.S. Constitution. The laws are written to placate the masses, to delude
U.S. citizens into thinking they're still free. There is no privacy in
the United States and all major corporations, the courts, and the
alphabet agencies are in bed together. Assume the worst about them.
Microsoft and Bill Gates are like inoperable tumors.

llvm-strip creates unloadable shared objects on linux-armv7hf
Hello Rui,
Thanks for your reply. I tried with the keep-section argument and that
made the shared library work.
Should these sections be kept around by default maybe?

LDAP/PDC migration to Samba4
...PDC, nothing I've seen in the internet on the
subject have matched the quality of his article.
But with migration on hand right now, I'm in the dark... kind of.
I'm really don't want to recreate the domain from scratch. The amount of users
that would be need to migrate/reconfigure/placate/fend off is just unbearable.

[PATCH] Clean up failed login logging.
...oves the AIX and UNICOS code to it,
eliminating 3 #ifdefs from the main code. It also provides an obvious
place to add the code for any other platforms that support this.
I've tested this on AIX 4.3.3. Wendy Palm was kind enough to test it
on UNICOS (this patch includes the cast required to placate the Cray
compiler).
Note: this will call record_failed_login() in the case of a login
attempt by a non-existant user. This is good for AIX (loginfailed
replaces the username with UNKNOWN_USER). I'm not sure if that's the
right thing on UNICOS or not.

Please die if you wait "too long" RtlpWaitForCriticalSection
...), I compile with "cc
-g", wait for a core dump, use gdb myApp core, then type "where". But
the wine app is in C++.
I don't know how important this is, but I could swear that my exe
complained about ntdll.dll missing, so I dropped in the MS version in
the exe directory and placated that.
I found something yesterday that said the native ntdll.dll should
never be used. So I removed it (or rather renamed it), and I don't
get the complaint about ntdll that I thought I recalled a long while
ago about needing it, but I still get the RtlpWaitForCriticalSection
error.
Thanks.
