In need of a new printer, having done a bit or research, and considering either the Canon PIXMA mg5420 or the HP Photo Smart 7520. There are Linux drivers for the Photosmart which are supposed to handle both the printer and the scanner. But in my research I haven't found (yet) anyone who's gotten the scanner to work with Linux on the Photosmart, let alone the sheet feeder for it...

Hi all, New member here and new to Linux. Please excuse me if my questions appear a bit dumb. I have just installed CentOS 4 and I am playing around. I must say the install process was fabulous and I had no problems. I am now playing with a few of the apps. I have a Canon Pixma MP780 multi-function centre which was correctly identified by the installer however I cannot find a driver for it and hence cannot print to it. Does anyone know if a Linux driver exists for this printer or alternatively what existing printer driver will work. Thanks in advance. Ian

My experience with printers is that of all the peripherals, regardless of OS, they are the trickiest to install, configure, and use. So I'm expecting a battle here. Hello, I'm new to WINE and cannot get a windows desktop publishing program to print. Wine's notebook prints, so I know WINE can reach my printer (Canon Pixma IP4200). I just installed C7 on a new computer and despite Simple Scan being installed as part of C7, I have not been able to get it to recognize my Canon scanner connected to a USB port. I did have it running on another computer with C7 so there should not be any inherent issues.
