New tutorial added!
Hey guys,
It''s been awhile, but I''ve put up a new tutorial page on Wx::Frame. It''s
the first half of the tutorial on Frame, the rest will come a little later.
Let me know what you guys think. Any comments or criticisms are welcome.
Let me know what was good and what could have been better, so that future
tutorials will be able to incorporate those improvements.

Mysterious new problem: nss_ldap: could not soft reconnect to LDAP server
...server - Server is unavailable
Yet, the LDAP server IS available, and happily chirping away serving as
an LDAP server for several other services. Only Samba seems to be
having the trouble.
Anyone else encounter this? I believe the library staff is headed to my
office at just this moment with pitchforks and torches. Please help.

Bug#515156: Same bug after removal + reinstall
I ran into the same problem after somebody uninstalled logcheck and I
re-installed it.
It turned out that the ownership of /var/lock/logcheck where root:root -
sudo chown logcheck:logcheck /var/lock/logcheck solved it.
I see that there already is a check for the permissions in the postinst
which (as far as I can see) *should* have fixed the permissions and
ownership there.
When re-installing

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.

At least they get their ISOs to boot from CD and USB stick alike.
(Some of them are my highly esteemed users. So i am biased here.)

If we count isohybrid as part of ISOLINUX then this is not fully true,
because it enables a non-SYSLINUX boot image for USB stick booting...

...rred from the retired server, but no longer do. I'm not actually clear which of the three mail stores in use are being accessed by whom or for what. (And let's not even ask why none of this showed up in testing.)
In short, I'm over my head and the villagers are outside with the usual pitchforks and torches.

911 and lawsuits
Just curious if any of the Asterisk installers are doing anything special
to protect themselves from a possible lawsuit caused by 911 failure
during a Asterisk/computer crash?
I realize that any traditional PBX or even a phone line can fail but,
anything running on a computer is probably going to be less reliable
than most PBXs.

I have a proof of concept patch for this but it's slightly out of date, so I'll need to update it.
I'm envisaging a large group of people with torches and pitchforks walking menacingly towards me right now, so without further ado I'll hand over to them to tell me where I've gone wrong and why the idea is utterly braindead...

Bug#443908: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind: [bind] unexpected RCODE (NOTIMP)
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.61
Severity: wishlist
File: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind
After #437891, I got yet another new "unexpected RCODE", this time
"NOTIMP". As I was starting to get pissed off, I copied the whole list
out of lib/dns/result.c, in an attempt to put an end to my headache.
If you insist on using an enumeration instead of ".*",

AJAX automatic print to specific printer??
Is it possible to print directly to an XP Pro default printer without
having to go through an intermediate dialog? The clients are XP Pro
with IE. The printer is accessed directly through the network, but could
easily be setup as a Windows shared printer if that helps us out. I''ve
seen where I can use window.print but the user still has to click OK. I
would like to avoid any

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default.
I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver.
I have tried a number of things:
1) in my kickstart package section add the line:
-xorg-x11-drv-nouveau
This did not work - it was still installed.
2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file
to blacklist
the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

Metadata syntax (was Universal syntax for Markdown)
So, hi all. First time commenting on the list.
I personally think having tags (whether of type "author:" or type "by")
is useful for two reasons.
One: It allows multiple tags to be entered. Two, it clears up the
potential problem listed by Fletcher regarding tags.

Newbie Question-Looking for Feedback
I've been looking at Asterisk for a replacement for our phone system and I'm
hoping someone can help validate my assumptions.
We have 4 analog lines coming into the building. These lines are simple POT
lines and we have them in a "hunt group" with Verizon so that when a single
phone number is dialed, the first line is rang, if that line is busy it will
ring the second line, and
