I have table which stores multiple entries. Each row has user_id,
game_id and a pick_id. On a page the user has to make load of choices.
All this gets submitted.
the html looks like so:

What syntax is this? belongs_to :Person
so when I''m reading the pick axe book second edition I don''t see
anything like the syntax you see people using in rails code.
Specifically when you see.
belongs_to :Person
has_many :Phones
etc
these are methods on ActiveRecord right?
Why is this invocation syntax never described in the Pick Axe book?
I do see things like attr_reader :some_attribute etc but you

make asterisk do something when an outgoing call is picked up
Hi,
how can I make asterisk do something when an outgoing call is picked up?
The background is that I would like to record incoming and outgoing
phone calls. In order to do this, I need to play an announcement
telling the person calling or being called that the call will be
recorded.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
call comes in:
if(I pick up) {

sample
I am trying to sample a subset from a matrix using sample.
The size of the matrix is 20X 1532. It works fine with this,
but when I transpose the matrix and try to sample it, it returns
null.
pick.set<-sample(tissue.exp.t,5,replace=FALSE,prob=NULL)
Is there something that I am missing here ?

2x2 test: total confusion.
I wan't a test for the 'association' between two events, lets say the
color of balls picked and the pickers (this is quite a good analogy to my
data).
I have 200 different pickers P
I have 1,000 colors of balls C
I have 1,000,000 picks in total
I am totally confused about what test to apply and when and why.
This is what I *think*
I know how many balls each picker

Harris picking up before extension
Hi there!
I'm setting up a connection between Asterisk ver. 1.2.13 and a Harris
20-20 PBX. More less everything went fine, but the problem I have now
is when dialing to the Harris PBX, it seems to pick up my call as
soon as it reaches it.
For example if from the Asterisk outgoing folder I dial an extension,
say 100, and play a prompt as soon as it is picked up, the promt is
beign played as

Call picked up from queue and transferred gets disconnected - about 0.01% of calls
Hi Guys
I have an issue where a call is picked up from a queue. The caller asks the
person who answered to attended transfer to extension 3082 (for argument's
sake.)
3082 picks up the attended transfer and speaks with the outside caller
picked up initially from the queue.
A few seconds after 3082 has started speaking to the outside caller
- 3082's call goes dead in their

immediate pick up in "s"
I'm configuring a sip trunk. My problem is if I configure the sip
device to dial to a sip phone, it works ok but when I dials to "s" or
"7777", asterisk picks up the call immediatly and places it's own ring
tone instead of waiting until one of the extension configured for
answer the call picks up.
Is there a way to avoid it? Is it a problem of the sip trunk? Should I

figuring out what happened to a call
Hi,
how can I figure out what happens to inbound calls?
The inbound calls I'm particularly interested in make phones that are
members of a queue ring; when the call isn't picked up, another phone is
dialed and when the call still isn't picked up, asterisk hangs up.
I want to know the following:
+ Who's calling?
+ What did the caller dial?
+ Is an inbound call being picked

Dialplan to Pick up calls that are ringing onother extensions?
Well I dont want it to operate as a group. I understand that it is *8 on most PBX systems but I would like it to work as dialing *8+extension-thats-ringing to have it go over to my extension. I am having a lot of trouble finding more information from the wiki and google.
Thanks!

queue / agent documentation
We're moving a somewhat complicated call center over to an Asterisk system,
and I'm looking for documentation on queue/agent configuration. So far I
haven't found anything on the Digium or Asterisk websites, and I was hoping
that someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks,

Hylafax does not pick up.
We run the distro HylaFax on a CentOS-5.4 host. On infrequent
occasions we notice that the server will not pick up an incoming
call. It reports listening to modem rings.
Now, it seems to me that picking up the call should be under the
control of the modem but I notice that there exists a setting in
Hylafax for the number of rings before picking up. The default
value for this is 0 (zero) but we

Dial plan suggestions
Hello all,
I've been asked to look into my home dial plan to see if I can improve
it by an important customer (my wife).
What we would like to have happen is that an inbound call rings all the
phones (This is done). Once one phone picks up, of course all the others
stop ringing (Also done). Here's the gotcha. She doesnt like having to
"transfer" calls to another phone;

Asterisk not picking up (some) calls due to zaptel detecting and clearing alarms
Hi All,
For the most part, the PBX works as it should. Occasionally people complain
that they call and the PBX doesn't pick up. Other times it looks like the
call is answered by Asterisk but I still hear ringing and I start listening
to the IVR menu a few seconds into it.
As for Asterisk not picking up, I see the following in the logs:

Calls keep ringing after being picked up
Hi all, using * 1.2.9.1 and this week all of the sudden calls keep ringing
even after they've been picked up... Here's one users summary:
When I pick up the phone, I hear a dial tone and I am able to dial out.
But for some odd reason, the receiving line picks up while the outgoing line
is still ringing.
And the receiving line can hear everything while the phone is still ringing.

Asterisk integration with office PBX
Forgive me if this question has been asked/answered in another post.
And let me reiterate what other users have frequently said - Asterisk is great, and I really appreciate all the work you folks have put into it.
How have some of you gone about integrating Asterisk with a legacy office PBX, such that the end-user can use a regular office (digital handset) and dialing is fairly seamless ?

Index matrix to pick elements from 3-dimensional matrix
Hi all
Suppose I have a dim=c(2,2,3) matrix A, say:
A[,,1]=
a b
c d
A[,,2]=
e f
g h
A[,,3]=
i j
k l
Suppose that I want to create a 2x2 matrix X, which picks elements from
the above-mentioned submatrices according to an index matrix J referring
to the "depth" dimension:
J=
1 3
2 3
In other words, I want X to be
X=
a j
g l
since the matrix J says that the (1,1)-element should be
