ext3fs still uses sequential search of file names in directories?
...ying to determine the optimal filesystem for accessing large numbers of files (25,000+) in a single directory. I have read that ext3fs uses a sequential search algorithm and wanted to verify that this was still indeed the case since this article was published a year ago. http://bulmalug.net/body.phtml?nIdNoticia=1154 <http://bulmalug.net/body.phtml?nIdNoticia=1154&nIdPage=7> &nIdPage=7 Thanks for the help. -Parker

FAQ Wiki
It has been asserted that the use of CVS for maintaining the Shorewall documentation has been a barrier to community participation. To test this theory, Alex Martin has created a Wiki (http://wiki.rettc.com/wiki.phtml?title=Wiki_Shorewall_FAQ) and with the help of Mike Noyes Alex has populated the Wiki with the Shorewall FAQ. Feedback is welcome. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net

Shorewall FAQ Wiki Online, nearly complete...
Hello, Mike Noyes and myself have populated http://wiki.rettc.com with the shorewall FAQ. This wiki is running MediaWiki, http://www.mediawiki.org. Currently, a couple items are not complete. I have just begun a heavy semester of mathematics/physics studies, and do not have much time to give to this. But, it is online, and seems to be stable. I will keep an eye out for abuse, and limit

Asterisk & Sipura 2000
I have been trying to read everything I can find on Sipura 2000 and Asterisk. I am trying to make the Sipura-2000 act as two analog lines off my asterisk. I have followed (what I believe) the example on http://www.voxilla.com/Article39.phtml and I still can't get my Sipura to register with my Asterisk server. I can re-config my Sipura to talk to fwd, or voice-pulse connect and it works fine. I just got my Sipura in the last day or so and I just built my first Asterisk. If anyone has any experience with Sipura, I would appreciate...

[jik@kamens.brookline.ma.us: MSS clamping doesn''t work with masquerading through VPN?]
...d access machines on the other side of it from my Linux box. However,, I found that I couldn''t use rdesktop to connect to a Terminal Services server at work. I tracked down the problem to my MTU being too high, as documented here: <URL:http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-diagnosis.phtml#connections_freeze>. After setting the MTU and MRU for the VPN connection to 1000 as documented there, I was able to use rdesktop from my Linux machine. I have VMware installed on my Linux machine, and I run Windows XP Professional inside of it. I wanted to be able to also access the VPN from...

OpenOffice Conversion
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 List, I have a rather unique question, that perhaps can be answered easily here.I did search google and only came up with one app that does this exact thing; however, it's an expensive tool. Thusly, not my cup of tea. I have need to convert approximately 100 documents in Openoffice's native format to Microsoft Word's native format.

ext3 fs: no userspace writes == no disk writes ?
Hello, I have a question about ext3 write activity. I am considering using an ext3 fs on a CompactFlash disk for my data-logging application (power can disapear anytime). The quantity & frequency of the data logged itself is not a problem at all considering flash wear. But I'm a bit worried about the kernel/ext3 doing regular writes by itself even when there are no userspace writes.

Premature end of script headers: dispatch.cgi
Hi I am running ruby 1.8.4 and rails 1.0.0 with Apache 2. I made a simple rails application called demo and also created a controller called say and an action called hello which is working fine using webrick. To run it under Apache I created a symlink demo1 which is linked to the demo/public directory. If I run it using www.example.com/demo1 then I get the "Rails- Welcome Aboard"

MOS Scores and LCR
Is there any tool that can do LCR for Asterisk but also take into account MOS scores? Is it possible to automatically generate MOS scores on random "calls" so as to keep an updated database on a per provider, per destination, per time-of-day score? Hopefully, with that information we can create a better LCR module or script? Thanks, Daniel
