PGF Device
Greetings all,
PGF is a package for LaTeX which works with both ps
and pdf output without any nasty hacks like pictex.
Is there any technical reason why there could not be a
PGF graphic device for R? If not, I'm going to try to
throw one together. Any tips for getting started?
Cheers,
Caleb

Cross-platforms solution to export R graphs
Hello Rusers,
I have worked on a R Wiki page for solutions in exporting R graphs,
especially, the often-asked questions:
- How can I export R graphs in vectorized format (EMF) for inclusion in
MS Word or OpenOffice outside of Windows?
- What is the best solution(s) for post-editing/annotating R graphs.
The page is at:
http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=tips:graphics-misc:export.

[R-pkgs] New package: `lavaan' for latent variable analysis (including structural equation modeling)
Hi Yves
lavaan looks like a very nice package. From the tutorial introduction
I see you create path diagrams for some of the models you describe.
How did you do this? I don't see a function for this in the package.
I know there is a path.diagram function in the sem package that uses
dot to draw the diagram, but I've always found the layouts from dot
somewhat strange for path diagrams

Netcdf
Can anyone tell me if there exists an rpm for netcdf-3.6.0-p1 for Centos
x86-64? Also, are there any details of what was used to compile it,
i.e., ifort, pgf, g77, etc. I'm looking for a version compiled with

How can I do that?
Thank you in advance.

simple TOS based setup vs more complex ones
Hi,
After reading section 9 of LARTC it seemed to me that a pure TOS based QoS setup with be sufficient for a small newtork. Interactive packets could have the highest priority, second highest for DNS and small HTTP packets and lowest prio for all others.
The advantage is that, the setup would be simply a couple of iptables lines, because the default pfifo_fast qdisc already implements

Understanding the workflow between sweave, R and Latex
Let's say I have written the following tiny .Rnw file:
_________________________________________
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\usepackage{tikz}
\usepackage{pgf}
\begin{document}

sessionInfo()

\end{document}

I then can go to R and use sweave to translate the .Rnw file into a .tex
file
Once this is done the latex interpreter can be called and because I used
\usepackage{Sweave} Latex knows...

pgfSweave-example not compiling
I'm trying to get pgfSweave up and running. Hopefully I can get it
working from within LyX, but first I'm just trying to get the simplest
possible thing (compiling one of the example files in the pgfSweave
package) to work. I'm using the example that comes in the pgfSweave
package unmodified, but for reference I...

routing TCP to another box preserving ORIGINAL client IPs
My TCP clients connect to box A. I need to forward those connections to a
server on box B, such that the original client IPs are visible to the server
on B.
Each box has two Ethernet ports. One port on each box is connected to WAN,
and they are cross-connected in a LAN via remaining ports:

netmask 255.255.255.255 vs ip route add via ... (bug?)
Greetings routing folks,
I want to use the netmask 255.255.255.255 to insulate (not quite
isolate) machines on a shared subnet from each other. This works
just fine on win XP, but Linux iproute will not acccept the
gateway address in one step -- neither on the command line nor
via DHCP:
Here''s the interface, set up with a netmask of /32:
# ip addr

OT: Software for specific visualisation of data...ideas?
Dear List,
A student in the Department where I work would like to produce a graphic
similar to this one:
http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Guardian/documents/2009/09/16/Public_spending_160909.pdf
Does anyone know if the figure in the pdf can be generated in a specific
software application for example? Any suggestions would be most
gratefully received by the student concerned.
Many thanks,

tc qdisc for interface alias
Hi,
Can we create TC rules for an interface alias? Here are the commands:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 add ip.ad.dr.ss netmask m.a.s.k up
tc qdisc show dev eth0:0
Last command throws error "can''t find device". Is there any way to
define tc rules on alias or is it simply a limitation?
Thanks,
Deepak

iproute: add destination route by hostname...
Hi all
How to add a static route to a hostname with iproute2?
I tried:
ip route add linux.com via 192.168.1.1
I got the following reply:
Error: an inet prefix is expected rather than "linux.com".
With "route command" I do not have problems
route add -host linux.com gw 200.214.148.140
As the iproute2 is the standard in the current linus distros, I would like
to know if is
