What can we expect from Vorbis 1.0 over RC2?
...ntly for the next version. I was wondering what improvements have been made to the code for the next version. Can I expect more speed, better quality etc? Also, is the CVS tree the development source, or is there a lot of interesting stuff on closed branches like it was for beta 4? I know I'm pestering, and I know how difficult it is to work on a free software project AND have a full time job. People have been pestering me for months to finish my stuff :) Regards, Mart <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ T...

Good Bye SAMBA?!?!?
...e this is my last post with this matter! I hope it's your last post on any matter. You quit Samba very noisily. If you don't remember doing so, just look at the subject line. Don't look back. Go to your beloved Windows CIFS. You've found somebody better: Move on and don't keep pestering your ex. To everyone else: Around the turn of the century Samba had a web-app (CGI probably) to configure smb.conf. Is something like that still in existence? Entropy and DSA keys
I remember a discussion to the effect that using DSA keys in sshd increases the requirement for random bits available on the system... and that this requirement (was it a 128 bit random number per connection?) presents security problems on systems that don't have a decent source of entropy? Am I misinterpreting those discussions? We are having a problem deploying sshd (no prngd) where sshd

[PATCH 1/5] Skip timer works.patch
Add a way to disable the timer IRQ routing check via a boot option. The VMI timer code uses this to avoid triggering the pester Mingo code, which probes for some very unusual and broken motherboard routings. It fires 100% of the time when using a paravirtual delay mechanism instead of using a realtime delay, since there is no elapsed real time, and the 4 timer IRQs have not yet been delivered.

mailing lists and Dovecot deliver (lda)
...tfix + Dovecot + virtual mailboxes system. And where I should be looking. The examples on the Postfix site don't seem to address a purely virtual mailboxes system and I haven't found anything about doing it with deliver. I think I'm at the wrong tree (Dovecot deliver) and should be pestering the Postfix list. FTR, I host some sites for not-for-profits and they have asked about setting up lists. So far I've dodged the question but would like to attempt it now. Thanks, Rod --

EventMachine website down?
Hi all Is the EventMachine website (www.rubyeventmachine.com) down? I can''t access it from South Africa, and have tried using tor as well with no luck. I''m kinda new to EventMachine, so I first have a lot of examples to work through and reading to do before I start pestering the mailing list with questions. Thanks to everyone who partook in creating the library, so far it''s been nothing short of a miracle, and have simplified a lot of projects where I''ve implemented it. Linux SYSLINUX vs SYSLINUX.EXE
To all or anyone: I have a very strange problem when using syslinux, and lnx-bbc. Perhaps somebody can provide some insight into Syslinux as it relates to what I'm trying to do. At Peerless, we use LNX-BBC to build a bootable USB thumbdrive. We added a script to init.d in the ram disk to execute one our scripts during LNX-BBC boot from the USB thumb drive. I have seen an apparent

PSARC 2009/571: ZFS deduplication properties
I haven''t seen any mention of it in this forum yet, so FWIW you might be interested in the details of ZFS deduplication mentioned in this recently-filed case. Case log: http://arc.opensolaris.org/caselog/PSARC/2009/571/ Discussion: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=115507 Very nice -- I like the interaction with "copies", and (like a few others) I think

[LLVMdev] [Announcement] Call For 3.3 Testers!

I'll post those binaries on the website so that others may test with them. 7) Most importantly: You are expected to file PR reports for *any* issues you run into. 8) And, of course, put up with me pestering you to get things done. :-) We have scripts to compile and run the tests for the release candidates. You're expected to complete your testing fairly quickly so that we can get the binaries out to the community for further testing. ("Fairly quickly" here is intentionally vague. Some m...

The immediate future
Hello all: I am very much enjoying reading this list. It's great to see discussion (mostly readable by non-vorbis-developer types) on the potential of vorbis and OGG in general. But I'd like to ask about the immediate future. I am very keen to adopt OGG vorbis for a number of uses, but I am awaiting a few things. And I do not wish to pester and hassle those hard at work to make this
