Mac permision problems after Debian update
Last night I did a long overdue security update of my Debian file server.
One of the updates was to Samba 2.2.3a-12.3.
Since then, I've had a very strange (to me) permissions issue, that I have
not been able to resolve digging around in Google.
Using the shares on a Win2K machine, everything is fine. I can log in,
persuse existing content, and make new directories and files.

permision problem
I have a server with SuSE 9.0 professional and samba 2.2.8a-170, with
approximately 70 directories. I have created in samba a resource or share
called data, within as the 70 directories inside it. The problem is since I
make to assign the permissions to these directories. If for example, userA
belongs to group1 and to group2 and directoryA has like group to grupo1, but
when a user of group2

ACL defaults and masks
Hello!
In samba 3 we used create mask , force create..?? to set file permisions. In samba 4 as I understand those options are? ignored and default acls are used instead. But, is it possible to set? by default different permisions on files and folders?? For example?? on folders rwx, and on files rw-. Because I dont want to give x? permision to file as I think it can be dangerous. Thanks in

ACL: some maybe stupid questions
Hi.
I want to use ACL on my RH-9.0 box (x86), so I got ext3 ACL patch from
http://acl.bestbits.at/ and tried to apply it to the kernel that ships
with RH (2.4.20-8). The patching fails on some vm file so I got a vanila
kernel 2.4.20, apply the patch and compile it. This works fine. Also
RH-9.0 precompiled Samba 2.2.7 works fine with ACL.
I connected to my share with WinXP and do some testing

Administrative permisions
Good evening!
I have installed samba 4.3.0pre1-GIT-6bbfb09 on centos 6.6 like active directory and domain controller.
It turns out that, the past wednesday I lost the administrative permissions of theadministrator and domain admins users.
When I try to make a change at Remote Server Administration tool over one domain user says this: " the access rights are insufficient to carry out this

No one. But plain 'POSIX' access (eg, ssh) works? Eg if you try to redo
the operation that does not work with samba using plain ssh access
(with the same user), they works?

Group permisions
ssh supports an override for StrictModes which allows a user to use
group-writable .ssh directories. Is there an easy way to make openssh do
this (I didn't see options in the source)? Or is this worth adding?

Mac permision problems after Debian update
Well, I've received two emails asking me for more information on how I
resolved this problem. I felt bad that I didn't know anything more than I
had posted.
Now the problem is back for me, and I am unable to resolve it again. Has
anyone made any progress on this?
Thanks,
-Michael

acl_tdb failed to convert file acl to posix permisions
We are using SAMBA 3.6.6 on Centos 5 with the acl_tdb VFS module. Our share is backed by storage on a SAN devices that does not support ACLs or extended attributes ... so we're trying the acl_tdb module as a mechanism to support Windows ACLs. We have verified that samba has ACL support enabled, and ACL support works find if we export the share from the local EXT4 filesystem.
When trying to
