Laptop SCSI capability supported by CentOS 7
...o be supported (it's previously supported by the aha152x driver). Any ideas are welcomed, other than 'just use a desktop.' I am not sure a USB or Firewire to SCSI bridge will work for what I need, which is connection to an audio-capable DDS2 drive (SGI Firmware Seagate/Conner/ArDAT Peregrine 4326 that is from an SGI system). Yeah, I know I can use DATman on IRIX (I have a pair of O2's and a purple Indigo2 w/ SolidIMPACT), but going forward I'd like to use my laptop.

Newbie to Samba - getting '^M' characters from NT into PVCS o n UN IX
...editor, the cr is just another piece of data, and shows up as such. There are utilities on many unix systems (dos2ux, ux2dos) to translate between these two text types, but samba does nothing in this regard. Multiple userdb on specific ports
Hello everyone, Is it possible to, from one instance, bind a single userdb to a specific listen port in Dovecot? For example, requiring passwd or PAM authentication on IMAP port 143, but using an SQL passdb only on port 8143? Making isolinux boot menu: problems
We're currently working on a custom distro which would have an isolinux boot menu. We're currently not able to make it work, and are looking for a good example of an isolinux/ directory of an iso with such a boot menu. If anyone knows one (on github, ...) please let us know. Also, we think that there is either something missing from the instructions over at

VGA/PCI Passthrough of Secondary Graphics Adapter
Aloha! Concisely, I''ve been trying for several days to get VGA/PCI passthrough working. Regarding VGA vs PCI passthrough, I''m not entirely certain of the difference? Does Xen perform a different set of operations when passing through a VGA card versus any PCIe card? I''ve read the wiki and it seems the answer is "yes;" however, when passing through a

Making isolinux boot menu: problems
Thanks Didier, Stephanie used Anarchy Linux to make our menu work. Regarding the missing instructions at https://wiki.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Menu After comparing the (now working) menu with our old non-working menu made using the instructions from the syslinux wiki page, she found that it had many more .c32 files copied from /usr/share/syslinux and there were a few critical ones to

File Locking for dropbox
OK, this may sound like a FAQ but all the FAQ sheets I see don't really cover it : they come close, but not close enough. The case : Samba server (2.2.8a) on a stock 2.4.20 linux kernel (glibc 2.2.3) Operating as a 'dropbox' : files are dropped into \\server\incoming by various (windows) clients, then the server processes them. The problem : How to tell when a 'new' file

Local File Locking Doesn't Work
When writing a (1MB+) file to my samba share, I can lock the file locally (from Delphi) which seems kinda really horrible. Meaning this happens : Windows machine : Copy large-ish file to samba share Linux server : check for file; when file is created, open file and read contents. validate contents to ensure file is OK. (As file has not completed writing yet)
