rejecting I/O to offline device (PERC woes)
Haven't gotten any tips on a solution to the problem below.
It happened again this weekend.
My next test steps (order not determined):
1. Downgrade to CentOS 4
2. Swap out PERC controller with a spare
I have never had a problem with the PERC4/DC controllers on our
other machines (RHEL3/4, CentOS 4). Although, I've no other
machine that has 5 300G Fujitsu SCSI drives either.

Compiling legacy LSI megaraid drivers (Linux 2.6.11) with xen 2.0.7?
Hi all,
I''ve been using Xen for a while and I am trying to install it onto a
Dell Poweredge 2950. The 2850 uses a PERC4/Di raid on motherboard,
which requires the LSI Legacy SCSI Raid driver to be compiled into the
2.6.11-xen0 kernel. I''ve been recompiling the kernel by:
1. Go into the linux-2.6.11-xen0 directory. Select the driver using
"make ARCH=xen

Centos-4 Kernel pannic
Hi all,
We are running a new Centos-4 server, and it has kernel panicked on us 4
times in the last month. After the first kernel panic we hooked up a
serial console to the server and captured the output in order to have a
record of what happens. I've included the error messages from the last
time it locked up... but it doesn't really mean much to me. Anybody have
any ideas what might be

Slightly OT: Dell Poweredge 2850 with 4GB RAM
Hi all,
I got the previously mentioned Dell Poweredge 2850 with 4GB RAM and Perc4e
raid controller. Installation went well and the raid is pretty fast even with
level 5.
However I have another problem now... CentOS 5.2 only sees 256MB RAM. Googling
a bit, got me to install kernel-PAE, this went well, but CentOS still sees
only 256MB.
Googling some more, I found a bios update wa...

RE: Compiling legacy LSI megaraid drivers (Linux 2.6.11)with xen 2.0.7?
Have you checked the compile time in the boot messages to see you''re
actually booting the kernel you think you are?
The compile warnings are nothing to do with Xen.

poweredge 1850 won't boot 7.1? maybe LSI-related : amr0: adapter is busy
Hello,
This afternoon I wanted to upgrade to 7.1 two good old dell PowerEdge
servers which were running FreeBSD 6.x. It went fine and quickly on the
poweredge 1950, but it failed completely on the poweredge 1850.
Facts:
- boot cd and setup / operation of freebsd 6.x or 7.0 is fine

Help with megaraid_mbox driver
Hi All,
I've built a custom CD based on CentOS 4.2. An OOB CentOS 4.2 disk will
detect the megaraid (Perc4) card in a Dell 1850/2850, and load properly.
My version does not. I have checked, and the original shipping kernel
for CentOS contains the same megaraid_mbox driver as the updated kernel
that is on my CD. Basically, my CD removed some RPMS, and added others
for a custom

prob boot xen-4 2.6.32 megaraid
Hallo,
I have to try install xen-4 on dell pe2850 (Raid: perc4).
booterror: megaraid Couldn''t register IRQ 7!
But megaraid works with linux-2.6.18.8.
Enclosed my tests:
1. Compile xen-4.0 + linux-2.6.32 snapshot (Jeremy) from [8] (test 1).
cd /usr/src/xen-b29254c
make all modules modules_install 2>&1 | tee make.out
cp -p ./arch/x86/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinux-2.6.32

test, and H/W
Hi, folks,
This is a test post; to make it of interest, here's an issue you might
want to be aware of, those with not brand new hardware. We've got a few
Dell PE R415s. A 2TB b/u drive on one was getting full, so I went to
replace it with a 3TB drive (a WD Red, not that it matters.) We got the
system in '11.
I built the drive - a GPT, 1 3TB partition, on an R320, from '12.

megaraid/PERC
I've got two drives from a now-dead server, they were RAIDed, a mirror,
I'd assume. I need to see if there's anything on them I need to transfer
to the replacement, so I just shoved them into another Dell server, with a
PERC 5 controller - I think that's what the dead one had. I fired up
MegaRAID storage manager... but can't see any way to tell it to recreate
that RAID. Anyone

Dell server for asterisk question!
I am planning to buy Dell 2650 server with dual Xeon processors.
And I would like to buy two TE410P cards for PCI with 3,3v.
This is on Dell site about PCI slots for Dell 2650 server:
3 PCI-X
(1x64-bit/133MHz, and
2x64-bit/100MHz)
Does that mean I will be able to buy two TE410P cards ?
Or I need to buy two TE405P cards ?
Thanks for help.

Can I trust ZFS?
Hey folks,
I guess this is an odd question to be asking here, but I could do with some feedback from anybody who''s actually using ZFS in anger.
I''m about to go live with ZFS in our company on a new fileserver, but I have some real concerns about whether I can really trust ZFS to keep my data alive if things go wrong. This is a big step for us, we''re a 100% windows

5.1-R-p2 crashes on SMP with AMI RAID and Intel 1000/Pro
Dear Sirs.
It seems to me a never ending story. We run a box with a TYAN Thunder
2500 Dual SMP mainboard, 2GB ECC Tyan certified memory, AMI Enterprise
1600 RAID adapter and additional Intel 1000/Pro server type (64 bit)
GBit LAN NIC. With FreeBSD 4.8 this was stable, but to achive this
state was really hard! It is a story similar to that what happend when
we changed towards FreeBSD
