model helper location
Hi,
I''m looking at the rails cookbook for uploading files[1]. At the
bottom of the page it says that the sanitize_filename functioin would
probably go in a helper or a library. I wonder where these files would
be or what they would be called. Pehaps there are some conventions I
need to know about?
Thanks,
Peter

Dropping etheora decoding support for overlapping with oggplay?
...development should focus first on the encoding
features since liboggplay is overlapping with Etheora. I'm
transcripting the here so the Etheora's priorities can be better
discussed by everyone (and searchable on the web).
_____
Conrad, you mean concentrating first on encoding part, or pehaps
dropping the decode support from etheora at all? I didn't know
liboggplay (well, in truth I thought it was used only for vorbis) and
it's clear that their purposes share a lot of funcionalities.
I believe Etheora's plan is to go a little beyond of the features
implemented in liboggpla...

sudo in switchtower and security
I''m attempting to deploy a rails application using switchtower. My IT guys
are refusing to give me sudo for a user changeable script. I really can''t
argue with their logic. If I have sudo for a script that I can update, well,
I can do most anything I want.
They are suggesting I create a cgi that performs the same function. Since
the cgi would run as www-data (this is a debian

PAM_pwdb: 1 authorization failure for samba service
...#39;tail -f /var/log/messages', i always see the
message regarding PAM_pwdb. the effect is i can't see anything in any
subdirectories below a share. for example in my home dir i've created a
sub-dir placed a file in it. i go to win -explorer expecting to see the
sub-dir and file and pehaps open it. when i double click on the folder,
windows returns "the folder does not exist" even though it was picked up
by the the explorer.
to complicate it a bit, i've logged on to the console as myself and
created a sub-dir in my home at the unix level, gone back to
win-explorer...

Notice that on lines 2 and 3 the first character of the "flushable
data" (after the field separator) does get flushed, but then scanning
continues. Pehaps an end-of-line indication is not reset?

How do you graph data when you have lots of small values but few extremely large values?
I was thinking of splitting the y-axis into two? Is this possible?
Thanks

Hanging ssh sessions with openssh-5.1p1 and Solaris 8 & 10
Since we upgraded OpenSSH from 5.0p1 to 5.1p1 on our Solaris 8 boxes
(I know, I know, we should upgrade or retire them...), we've started
experiencing problems with slogin'ing into these boxes, running vi,
and pasting text into the vi session.
As long as we are pasting in less that 1024 characters it's fine.
With >= 1024 characters, the session hangs.

Tricky Samba Issue
Hello. I've been a Samba user for quite a while, but I've had a bit of
trouble getting the newer winbind stuff to work as I require, and was
hoping someone might be able to help. I'm not subscribed to the list, so
if you would CC me or e-mail me privately, that would be greatly
appreciated.
Right now I'm using winbind to fit into our NT domain. I'd *like* to have

lm function - strange error
I am following a document teaching how to use regression and right at the
onset I get an R error. I understand that variables "conc" and "signal"
should have the same length but I am using the what R manual suggests to
drop the error and it is not cooperating. What gives? The manual says
that the default is na.ombit by the way, not that it's addition does
anything

OpenSSH 4.1: call for testing.
Hi All.
OpenSSH 4.1 will be released in the next couple of weeks and we invite
interested parties to test a snapshot.
The changes since 4.0 are mostly bugfixes, for a detailed list see
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=994
Running the regression tests supplied with Portable does not require
installation and is a simply:
$ ./configure && make tests
