Re peated Measures (lme?)
Hello, I have a general data analysis question. I recently visited a lab where they are testing a new treatment and they had done the experiment several times on different dates. They repeated the experiment 3-5 times per day. And then for practical reasons they repeated the whole procedure for 5 days.(they wanted a large sample size but practically they couldn't handle more than 5-10 experiments per day). However there might have been some extra variation between different days...

re peated measures
Hi, I am performing a repeated measures 2-way ANOVA to assess the influence of plant and leaf on aphid fecundity. Fecundity is measured for each aphid on a single leaf. Here is what I typed. wingless <- reshape(Wingless, varying = list(c("d0","d1","d2","d3"...

Re peated ANOVA or nested ANOVA, or parallel one way ANOVA six times?
...39;s react to soil treatment deppends on time? If soil F and D differed significantly in effects on plant biomass? If soil sterilization have any aditional effects on plant biomass in this experiment? Which is the most important factor for biomass accumulation? I can't figure out wether a repeated ANOVA or nested ANOVA, or a parallel one way ANOVA six times is right for this experiment. It seems not so feasible to run six paralle one way ANOVA for each plant and sampling date combination for the questions above. It takes me a long time to learn lme4 package in R, but till now fruitless. Wo...

Getting the correct factor level as Dunnett control in glht()
Hello all, I would like to do a Dunnett test in glht(). However, the factor level I want to use as the control is not the first. dunn1<-glht(model3, linfct = mcp(Container = "Dunnett"), alternative = "less") The factor container has 8 levels, so it would be nice not to manually enter in all of the contrasts. I originally discovered glht() when working with a glm model

Is there another way of doing the bindings so that the Windows share doesn't run on TCP/IP but will still work with SAMBA? If so, where in the docs should I be looking, and if not - maybe this should be something discussed by the SAMBA dev people.. Regards, Marc. Building 3.0p1 on HPUX 10.2, gcc, zlib 1.1.4
Hi everybody, I've never posted here before but I seem to be having a similar problem to what Tim Rice had in July, namely when running the configure script I get the following: configure: error: *** zlib missing - please install first or check config.log *** However, I have definitely installed zlib (see below): dngwks1:/tmp/openssh-3.0p1 # swlist # Initializing... # Contacting target

the files when you attempt to rename it. This is caused by Window's Media Player loading the file when you click on it. To work around this I had to go into Windows Explorer and change the folder options from "Enable Web Contents in Folders" to "Use Windows Classic Folders". This way, Windows Media player won't load the file when you click on it. Just trying to save

...ack to work today printing from NT workstations no longer worked. The following message was in the logs of the Samba machine that acts as print server: [2001/05/29 08:01:53, 0] rpc_server/srv_spoolss_nt.c:close_printer_handle(250) close_printer_handle: Invalid handle (OTHER) That message was repeated about 20 times in a period of 90 seconds or so. I presume that this coincides with initial attempts to print. We also discovered that the printer drivers seemed to "disappear" from the printing properties on all print shares. Nothing was changed with the [print$] definition or the Unix...

...ows clients. Now it seems we occasionally have timeouts on our clients apparently because samba tries to do a gethostbyaddr call on each connection it accepts. However, since the name the client gives is an internal windows host name it is not known to the dns servers and samba seems to ask them repeatedly so we have long timeouts. I tried using the nsswitch configuration but this does not seem to do the trick (am I using the wrong library ? It does not even seem to call open("/etc/nsswitch.conf") when I do an strace)... Anyway, I was thinking there must be others that faced this probl...
