NIC recongized but cant ping
...of you guys faced this issue. So I am having an issue of no connectivity with my NICs. I have manually configured and I have tried dhcp. The OS sees the NICs loads the drivers, but I cannout ping anything on the lan. The only card that works out of the box is my only PCIE intel dual 1000 nic. my PCIX based intel pro 1000 nor my realk r8169 nics work, yet debian sees the NIC. I can bring them up and configure no errors. I just cannot ping anything on my lan any help would be appericated Thanks

Disk Layout for New Storage Server
We are implementing a ZFS storage server (NAS) to replace a NetApp box. I have a Sun server with two dual Ultra320 PCIX cards connected to 4 shelves of 12 500GB disks each, yielding a total of 24TB of raw storage. I''m kicking around the different ways to carve this space up, balancing storage space with data integrity. The layout that I have come to think is the best for me is to create a raidz2 pool for...

OT: USB T1/E1 Interface?
Just curious: has anyone seen or heard about a USB-based T1/E1 interface device? I've seen some serious T1/E1 testing equipment that is USB-based, but I was wondering if there was something more generic, like a Zaptel-ish T1/E1 that used USB instead of PCI/PCIx. Thanks! -MC -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20070502/7146b4cc/attachment.htm

System seams slower with Xenified kernel and xend dies with SIG 15
Hello all, I compiled the kernel with the xen patch and I seam to have trouble with some kernel modules, like ATI''s proprietary driver. The system seams considerably slower than before, this might be because of the video drivers, or maybe the RAM alocated to dom0 (512Mb instead of it''s usual 1Gb). When I try to run xend, it dies with a SIG 15. I attached the log file. Anyone

Dell PowerEdge 750 rackmount
Hi- I have an upcoming order for a bunch of asterisk boxes, and I'm considering using an "assembled" package for the server, instead of building them from components as I usually do. Does anyone have experience with the Dell PowerEdge 750 server, or any other 1U rackmount server for use with asterisk? Thanks in advance Scott Stingel Scott M. Stingel President, Emerging Voice

32 Bit vs. 64 Bit Linux Server installation
Hi Centos Users What are the advantages of 64 Bit and respective 32 Bit installation of Centos? With PAE 32 Bit installation can address huge amount of RAM. As a desktop system, I prefer 32 Bit installation because of teething troubles in 64 Bit Linux world. When would you choose 64 Bit and when 32 Bit? We are running mostly application and web services. Is this true that with 32 Bit

Second Hand Servers - How Powerful?
Hi, I'm looking at setting up a small production system - predominantly for voice mail and IVR (with a few extensions and hold music MP3's). I've found a couple of IBM X330 servers, with dual 1.13Ghz P3 processors. My question is; is a dual 1.13Ghz P3 server sufficient to run for real-life demands? I come from a Unix/Mac background, so I'm not swayed by the '3Ghz'

Problems with eepro100 or BroadCom NetXtreme and syslinux 2.04
Hi all! We use pxelinux for booting a diskless Linux from whitch we install all our systems. But we discovered some Problems: - With v1.75 the Kernel is fetched from the TFTP-Server with no problem, but it gets not started on Broadcom NetXtreme with newer PXE-Bioses - With v2.04, pxelinux even seems not to be able to fetch the kernel from the TFTP-Server. This affects also Intel's

Old hardware, newer kernels
I have an old server (old hardware) that's been running 6.4 with kernel 2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.i686, no problem. Except, any kernel update after that causes it not to boot anymore. All I get is a blinking cursor on the screen, nothing else. Is this the end of this hardware, no more kernel updates after this? For reference, these are all the options that kernel is booting up with (lines

Any recommendations on Perc H700 controller on Dell Rx10 ?
Hi folks: At work, I have an R510, and R610 and an R710 - all with the H700 PERC controller. Based on experiments, it seems like there is no way to bypass the PERC controller - it seems like one can only access the individual disks if they are set up in RAID0 each. This brings me to ask some questions: a. Is it fine (in terms of an intelligent controller coming in the way of ZFS) to have the

How Do I ...
All, I've got a machine running CentOS 5.3 and this machine has got 2 - built-in 1 Gig NICs and a expansion card with 4 - 100 Meg NICs. For whatever reason at install time, it made the expansion card eth0 through eth3 and the internal ports eth4 and eth5. And by default the 'machine' is known on the network by the eth0 NIC, so my throughput is limited to 100 Mb. How can I force
