qcauchy accuracy (PR#7902)
Full_Name: Morten Welinder Version: 2.1.0 OS: src only Submission from: (NULL) (216.223.241.212) Now that pcauchy has been fixed, it is becoming clear that qcauchy suffers from the same problems. qcauchy(pcauchy(1e100,0,1,FALSE,TRUE),0,1,FALSE,TRUE) should yield 1e100 back, but I get 1.633178e+16. The code below does much better. Notes: 1. p need not be finite. -Inf is ok in the log_p

pcauchy precision (PR#6756)
Full_Name: Morten Welinder Version: snapshot OS: Submission from: (NULL) (65.213.85.129) Two things are wrong. 1. There is nan test outside IEEE_754. 2. The meat part of the function should really be something like... if (!lower_tail) x = -x; if (fabs (x) > 1) { double temp = atan (1 / x) / M_PI; return (x > 0) ? R_D_Clog (temp) : R_D_val (-temp); } else

How to convert List object to function arguments?
Dear R gurus, I have a function "goftests" that receives the following arguments: * a vector "x" of data values; * a distribution name "dist"; * the dots list ("...") containing a list a parameters to pass to CDF function; and calls several goodness-of-fit tests on the given data values against the given distribution. That is: ##### BEGIN CODE SNIP #####

PR#8528
On 23/02/05 I suggested that given R had included TOMS 708 to correct for t= he=20 poor performance of pbeta, TOMS 654 should be included to fix all the pgamm= a=20 problems. I was slightly surprised to find Morten's code had been included= =20 instead 2 days later. I noticed but did not worry that the reference to me = had=20 been removed.=20 The derivation of the asymptotic expansion for

initialize expression in 'quasi' (PR#8486)
This is not so much a bug as an infelicity in the code that can easily be fixed. The initialize expression in the quasi family function is, (uniformly for all links and all variance functions): initialize <- expression({ n <- rep.int(1, nobs) mustart <- y + 0.1 * (y == 0) }) This is inappropriate (and often fails) for variance function "mu(1-mu)".

predict.glm(..., type="response") dropping names (and a propsed (PR#7792)
Here's a patch that should make predict.glm(..., type="response") retain the names. The change passes make check on our Opteron running SLES9. One simple test is: names(predict(glm(y ~ x, family=binomial, data=data.frame(y=c(1, 0, 1, 0), x=c(1, 1, 0, 0))), newdata=data.frame(x=c(0, 0.5, 1)), type="response")) which gives [1]

R-beta: Compile error; R-0.60.1, Solaris 2.6, gcc 2.7.2.1
Hi! I have just downloaded the R-0.60.1 sources and have problems compiling R on a Sun Ultra 1 running Solaris 2.6 and gcc 2.7.2.1. I have not been able to find to find any compiling hints in the documentation or the FAQ. After ./configure I use make and get the output below. Any hints are welcome. I am not on the list, so please answer me directly too. Best regards Jens --- Jens Lund

problems compiling R-0.63.3 on alpha
Hi again ! Thanks for the info on updating the config.site file which I have done. I have also added -lm in the Makeconf manually because this is needed explicitly for DEC cc. However, there are still a few problems when linking some of the files as you can see from the enclosed log. Ciao, Andreas ------------------------------------------------------- R-0.63.3>make make[1]: Entering

R 1.9.1 is released
I've rolled up R-1.9.1.tgz a short while ago. This is a maintenance version mainly to fix a number of minor bugs and issues (the most annoying one seems to have been the change to barplots of tables) and some installation issues. Because of the relocation the CVS archives, there is no direct access to the files until they show up on the CRAN master site. You can then get it from

R-beta: Problem with `rpois'
There is a problem with `rpois'. It does seem to take care about the order of the arguments. This is an example: > rpois(n=1,lambda=2) [1] 3 > rpois(lambda=2,n=1) [1] 2 0 It obviously uses the first argument as the number of samples to be drawn, which is wrong. I used Version 0.49 Beta (April 23, 1997). Fredrik
