Thanks for the log - apparently we always get valid (apart from 0.191312) but empty replies, not only for index 0x03, but also for the other queried index (0x0c). I've re-looked at the logs you posted on GitHub, but I don't see anything exotic going on there. Maybe we're missing some sort of handshaking or the like: can you post the whole captures/logs, right from when you plug the

nutdrv-qx powercool 1500VA USB UPS
Hi Charles, I've added 3 more files to github. https://github.com/mattwire/powercool-ups/blob/master/wireshark-UPSmart-startup.pcapng - captures startup of UPSmart software and continues for about 5 minutes. https://github.com/mattwire/powercool-ups/blob/master/wireshark-UPSmart-ups_off-on.pcapng - UPSmart software is running, UPS is OFF. UPS is switched on and connects to software. https://github.com/mattwire/powercool-ups/blob/...

Slow transfers when using a linux-based client vs Windows client
...#39;ve got a performance issue when transferring files from a Samba 4.1.6-Debian server. When using a Debian client, I get around 4.5 megabytes per second, but when using a Windows (8) client I get around 21 megabytes per second! Any idea what would be causing this massive discrepancy? Compressed pcapng files are at https://mega.co.nz/#F!W5IygDzS!2bIAxA3tOpEvvgQf1HForw - they'll unpack to around 500 megabytes each. I'm fairly sure I filtered these well but please let me know if I've managed to post my credentials in these files... although the shares I was testing with were guest/anon...

SMB copies failing with GlusterFS 3.10
..., it is repeatable and killing us! NFS clients work fine on any platform, but SMB does not. There aren't that many client-side options for SMB mounts so the solution has to be server-side. Here is a pcap of the copy attempt from one computer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yhn3s1qbxtdvnoh/sambacap.pcapng?dl=0 You'll see a the request to look for the file which results in a STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND (good), followed by a STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION (???) followed by a STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_COLLISION (bad). Here are the options from the volume: Options Reconfigured: nfs.acl: off features.cache-...

Notification of file modification in subdirectories not working
I have output of another test with exactly the same behaviour This time I have pcap files from Samba and client PC. CHange to the file subfile.txt was made on another PC Looks like Samba sees change to the file but does not send it as a notification [2016/01/26 10:09:15.590689, 10, pid=12027, effective(1001, 1006), real(1001, 0)] ../source3/smbd/notify_internal.c:615(notify_trigger)

As requested by Jeremy, I have done wireshark "pcapng" captures of the four scenarios as described in my original post below: * smb311_write - Win 10 client storing ~ 1000 small files onto Samba 4.6.5/Thecus NAS * smb15_write - Win 10 client storing ~ 1000 small files on Samba 3.6.15/Thecus NAS * smb311_read - Win 10 client readin...

The OS/2 server doesn't support that, so the client then drops back and does a SMB1 Query Information Request (SMB1 request 0x8, what Samba calls SMBgetattr). This doesn...
