Subject: [Asterisk-Users] How Many Calls On This Config
I've seen a couple posts about SMP, and I'm wondering if anyone has an idea
what I can handle with this box:
Dual P2 Xeon 450 MHZ with 2MB L2 Cache
1 GB PC100 SDRAM
RAID 5
Running SuSE 9.1 2.6 SMP Kernel...
Currently I have 16 users,
10 CISCO 7912G Using ULAW
3 Sipura 1000's Using GSM or g726
2 Motorola MTA VT1005's Using ULAW
1 Iaxy Using ULAW and g726
So far I've had 7 concurrent calls with mixed codecs and no issues on call
quality....

Upon disassembling my machine, I discovered that I had some PC100 RAM
clocked at 133MHz, and this was likely the source of my problem. I'll
re-run the test files and see what happens now.

Performance Issue: Red Hat vs SuSE
...unt-point
unmount /mnt/mount-point
=============================================================
Can someone here tell me why, by just changing distributions, I've increased
my backup time by about 50%?
Both setups use Samba 2.2.5
The system's specs are:
Celeron 800 (100MHz FSB)
320MB of PC100 SDRAM
NetGear FA311TX 10/100 NIC running at 100Mb/s
Maxtor ATA-133 PCI Controller
1-7.5GB ATA-66 IDE HD for the OS
2-40GB ATA-100 IDE HD in Software RAID0 for "/backup" mount point
Each Drive is "Master" on own IDE Interface of Maxtor Controller
No additional drives on either...

What goes to Hardware ?
...x240 stream, it represent about 150 Kbyte of each buffer, so I
will need about 500 Kbytes of memory.
It is too much to use FPGA internal memory.
So I'm planning use a external SRAM of 500Kbytes.
SRAM data sheet: http://www.olimex.com/dev/pdf/71V416_DS_74666.pdf
Another alternative is to use a PC100 SDRAM of 16 Mb:

My Altera Stratix Dev. Kit has this SRAM and SDRAM.

Performance Issues with GBit LAN
Hi.
I have 2 PC's connected with 1GBit NIC's. When I transfer a file from my File-Server(Redhat9.0, 256 SD-RAM, 300MHz PII, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD200JB RAID 0) to my Windows-PC(AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 1024 MB DDR-RAM, WINXP PRO, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD080JB RAID 0) with Samba, i get Speeds around 8-9MB/sec. I think this is too low for an GBit Network, so i tested the

Shorewall redirect with Squid and Dansguardian
Hi all,
I''ve just built Mandrake 10.1 on a Compaq Deskpro that I''ve built as a
router/firewall and am redirecting port 80 outbound to force users through
the Content Filter. I''ve run this setup on Mandrake 9.0 and 10.0 without any
problems but this time the following happens.
Squid is accessed through port 3128 and Dansguardian via 8080.
If I set my browser on a

Samba running slow
Hello everyone:
Over the past few years I have been a happy samba user, running samba on
Redhat / FC platforms. Recently I upgraded hardware, and Samba hasn't been
performing well at all.. which makes me sad :-(
The new hardware is Asus P5B board with a dual-core intel processor. This
board has an onboard Realtek RTL8111/8168B gigabit ethernet controller,
which was a hassle to setup.

FreeBSD 4.9 RC1 (i386) now available
Not all FTP sites have the first release candidate, but it is at least
available from ftp.freebsd.org. Please download and install this
candidate and help us find bugs BEFORE we call it 4.9-RELEASE.

oom-killer.
Hi all,
Just watching for my first time the 'oom-killer' call in a CentOS 4.2
workstation. System was running normally but with high load of nice process,
iow, rosetta and seti, others appart, nautilus, etc... i realized that after a
night of standby running normally, the next moorning after few manual operations
from X-session in local console, it started a massive swapping, this time
