So I'm wondering if anyone has any favorites. Failing multi-platform,
I'll stick with Twinkle on Linux, and gladly take suggestions for Windows

Thanks!

Ruby on Rails and MS Access
How do I connect an existing or new Access database with Ruby on
Rails?
I am new to Ruby on Rails and a tutorial I am going through mentions
using MySQL but I don''t have MySQL and only work with MS Access.
Is MySQL available for free on the web? Thanks.

GUI for Asterisk Configuration
Fellow Asterisk users,
I want to make configuration of Asterisk less of a chore. I noticed that
there are quite a few GUI based configuration tools posted on the wiki. I
am curious if there is a consensus on which is the best, most stable,
easiest to install etc.
Thanks,

MS Access Runtime
Hi,
Please forgive me if this is a stupid post. I'm quite new to Linux, wine etc.
A quick bit of background. I have taken over as IT Manager at a company. They have Access Front Ends that connect to SQL back ends for all their day to day applications. All users at remote site TS into a 2003 server and run the front end on that to avoid data corruption.
Of course the system was never

Wine for command line only
Hi;
I think I have a very simple question but I can't find an answer to it.
I need to run one command line windows executable with no dlls on my
MacPro. Runs fine under Parallels/xp, but I would like to run it under
the bash shell script from the Mac/Unix terminal.
I "installed" the Darwine x86 package by copying it to the applications
folder. Not surprisingly, not having it

Demote old NT4 PDC to member of Samba domain?
Hi,
When installing Samba, I made it a PDC in a new domain. Now I would like
the old NT4 PDC in the old domain to become a plain host in my Samba
domain. Is this possible? I need to keep the old NT4 machine because
it's running the Symantec Corporate Edition NAV.
In other words, I have
NEWDOMAIN with Samba PDC and all clients
OLDDOMAIN with NT4 PDC alone, no client
Can my NT4 PDC become

Installation of packages?
Dear r-helpers,

SunSoft compilers f77, c version 4.2.
We habe problems with the installation of further packages e.g.
integrate from CRAN.
R code works but the shared objects built from fortran code do not find
the appropriate libs with functions like __pow_ii or __epx at runtime.

Patching XP clients on Samba PDC
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
Does anyone have a good suggestion for patching XP clients on a Samba
PDC domain? I've tried using autoit and sysinternal's psexec to write
a script to do this but this doesn't work well because the computer
has to be active and our machines lock the machine if it's not active
in 15 minutes.
I hate having to log onto every
