HW update. Fedora 30 to Centos?
...on Centos wrt Fedora? Not all that bothered about being 'up to the minute', and after 20+ Fedora installs it does get to be a drag... Has anyone here any 'real' drawbacks please? I'm not a power user, not a games player, just fancy a change to AMD hardware regards -- Dave Pawson XSLT XSL-FO FAQ. Docbook FAQ.

Never had a crash after hibernate/back to life or external screen not discovered for no (good) reason. rsync hanging (Sun -> AIX)
I'm trying to rync working between the UK (Sun box) and India (AIX box) and am having a real problems getting it up and running because every time I do a full transfer it hangs. The Sun box is the one holding the canonical source which we want to mirror. I've been shipped to the India office to get this working and have tried hundreds of things over the last week, I've also scoured

Newbie: Looking for a good starting reference
So I finally got everything up and running, and I''ve seen some "magical" stuff in tutorials bragging how easy and wonderful Rails is (and I believe it, for the most part). What I need now is a reference, a site or a book, that respects that I know a thing or two about app development and programming, but not necessarily anything about models, classes and controllers. I

Vegan: Anova.CCA accessing original data using option by="margin"
Hello, I am attempting to use the ANOVA.CCA function with the by="margin" option. The process works fine using the by="terms" option and I note in the Vegan manual that Jari suggests that an error may occur if the anova does not have access to the data on the original constraints. This is the error that I get: Error in dimnames(x) <- dn : length of 'dimnames'

TDD for Rails book?
It seems like half the people on this list are writing a book on Ruby or Rails. For all the hints I''ve seen strewn across the list I have yet to see one that will focus on test-driven development for either Ruby or for Rails. If anyone is looking for a topic, please consider this. I''ve been trying to wrap my brain around the TDD process, but its way of thinking is

Learn Ruby before Learning Ruby on Rails ?

After reading into the many articles on Ruby/ROR, have to admit looks pretty good so far. Really serious about getting into this and possibly developing some good Web 2.0 applications. Just wondering the best way to learn Ruby on
