But I may not have understand it properly. If I interpret it correctly,
the following upsmon.conf would be sufficient to monitor and to initiate
a system shutdown. Or is it *necessary* to setup the NOTIFYMSG and

Yeah. But can that "8GB Patriot" show the failure
when you put one of originally failing systems onto it ?
You mentioned Clonezilla, UBCD, OpenELEC.

nutdrv_qx and Best Power equipment
Hi Daniele,
I finally got a Best Power Patriot Pro II fixed up with a new battery and cable, and tried it with nutdrv_qx (since it uses a variant of the Q1 protocol). It auto-detected the use of Q1.
It looks like things mostly work:
bestups:
battery.charge: 100.0
battery.voltage: 13.9
battery.voltage.nominal: 12
device.mfr: Best Power

energizerups and bestups -> megatec?
Hi!
I don't know how I missed it before, but "bestups" seems to implement
mostly the same protocol as megatec. Is anybody out there using this
driver willing to try "megatec" to see if it works?
AFAIK, the only difference seems to be the command that gets the UPS
identification data ("I" on "megatec", "ID" on "bestups"), but

Odd behavior on Phenom II X6
I built a new box for home use, it is an ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X, the CPU
is the 1075T 3.0Ghz AM3. I have 16 gigs of 1333 RAM, it is Patriot

I am using a USB DVD drive to do the install
When I attempt to install either a generic CentOS install, it gives a
Kernel panic and dies, the error says something about CPU0 and it
reboots after 5 seconds. If I try to install e...

can't afford to shut down to perform a full test. The fact that the

Red Hat Linux, at least, won''t like this, as the Red Hat Package Manager,
"rpm", builds scripts in and attempts to execute scripts out of /tmp. =(

User interface decisions are never driven by security. If security is
mentioned then it is used as a fig-leaf to shut down dissent.
Security when applied to these sorts of decisions is the patriotism of
the FOSS world. The last refuge of scoundrels who have no desire to
admit error and wish no discomfort from making any.
The actual reasons for change usually come down to the aesthetic
values of a small group of developers, or often a single individual,
with the power to impose their vision...
