ext4 not on a bootable partition
Just tried running a configuration on 5.6 with ext4 as the "/"
partitition. I got the error
that cannot boot ext4 partition. bummer.... I know this is just a boot
issue and make the ext3 but I was disappointed.
Maybe 6.0 will have ext4 bootable.

VM's in a HA-configuration - synchronising vm config files
...luster with two nodes. My services will run inside vm's, the vm's are stored on a FC SAN, so every host has access to the vm's. But how can i keep the config files (xml-files under /etc/libvirt/qemu) synchronised ? Is there a possibility to store the config files somewhere else ? E.g. a partitition with ocfs2 on the SAN ?
If not, what would you do ? Otherweise i'm thinking of a cron-job who synchronises the file each minute with rsync.

Windows2003 P2V migration, need help creating a shrunken disk image.
I have a windows server with a 250G drive
the drive is partitioned as follows.
partition 1: dell utility partition
partition 2: fat32 windows c: partition
partition 3: extended partition
partition 5: logical NTFS partitition.
NTFS partition was setup with 220G. but only
about 18G was being used, so i shrank NTFS down to 50G.
now i want to make a drive image to create a HVM domain.
how can I create the image so that is is not contain the 170G or so of

Upgrading system from non-RAID to RAID1
...place. If I read the output from gparted correctly, this existing SSD is partitioned as follows:
- EFI system partition 260 MB and mounted as /boot/efi (formatted as FAT32).
- boot partition 1 GB and mounted as /boot (formatted as xfs).
- /root, swap and /home seem to coexist on a LUKS encrypted partitition using LVM2 PV.
My current plan is to:
- Use clonezilla to make individual backups of all partitions above.
- Install the two M2. SSDs.
- Use an external disk tool to partition the two new M2. SSDs as follows:
-- Create a RAID1 partition for /boot - same size as current, ie 260 MB
-- Create...

Fedora 21 extlinux 6.03 boot failure
Hi,
I discovered a very strange situation. I have 22 systems running Fedora 21
(F21) with bundled syslinux-extlinux 6.03. On one of those systems, I am
having trouble booting. This machine was upgraded from Fedora 19 (F19), so can
boot either the new or the old O/S -- F19 is on one disk partitition, F21
is on another, and there's a shared /boot partition. On this one machine,
when I try to boot into F21 using the F21 version of extlinux, the system
resets (reboots) right at this point:
Loading /vmlinuz-4.0.5-200.fc21.x86_64... ok

Remote access to domU console using vnc
I have an FC6 dom0 running on a headless server. I want to install a
CentOS 4.4 domU with a console accessed using vnc from a remote machine.
I *think* I should be able to do this from my understanding of the
documentation.
I''ve configured a domU to boot from an ISO image to do the CentOS
install and run xm create. netstat on dom0 shows there''s a listener
on 0.0.0.0:5900, but

Swap space and hibernation on Centos 7
I just reinstalled Centos 7 on my Dell Inspiron 15 7570. This time I created a swap partitition that is 24 Gb in size since the machine has 16 Gb of memory. Still unable to hibernate with 'systemctl hibernate' which generates a message that a 'dependency on hibernate.target failed'.
Typing swapon -s or cat /proc/swaps I see:
/dev/dm-2 partititon 25161724 0 -1

Option LABEL
Hallo, linux-btrfs,
please delete the option "-L" (for labelling) in "mkfs.btrfs", in some
configurations it doesn''t work as expected.
My usual way:
mkfs.btrfs -d raid0 -m raid1 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd ...
One call for some devices.
Wenn I add the option "-L mylabel" then each device gets the same label,
and therefore some other programs
