...Could you implement the table generation into the program (removing the fixed and large mode & vqh tables)? (So, you should write a table generation routine with 2 input values: freq and bitrate) I know, this is not easy... Currently it's just an idea... thnx regards Attila Padar --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. ...nt precision too (i.e. typedef float ogg_float_t), but I would be happy if you would use 'bouble' by default... Or at least, the possibility of the more precision and more clear sound. So, the Ogg Vorbis is very good, maybe with these modifications it could be perfect too. incerely Attila Padar author of Mpxplay (ogg support under construction) --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in th...

...oupled.h), but I don't know how could I switch to it manually. Perhaps with an option in the vorbis_encode_ctl() function... Because I think so it's better if I don't use any kind of channel coupling (lossless neither) on high bitrates (>300 kbit). Plans? DOS commandline decoder for Ogg beta4?
Help-- I've been experimenting with the encoder, using lots of different types of music, and I'm floored by great sound quality of the ogg format. Here's my problem--- I prefer not to use the Windows graphical environment for encoding or decoding, regardless of how good the program (like dbPowerAMP), but I can't find a DOS commandline decoder for converting Ogg files back to

RC2 vs. beta4 (test)
Hi! I would like to share with you an interesting test result. I re-encoded a song 10 times (the 2. made from the 1., the 3. made from the 2.,... the 10. made from the 9.), with a beta4 (CVS 20010620) and with an RC2 (CVS 20010817) library version, 256 kbit/s mode, channel coupling disabled at RC2. The beta4 is very good at the 10. encoding too, but the RC2 has some interesting quality bugs. So,

...file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end, the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file, if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or less - it seems - the problem's gone. There is a sample audio file related to this problem at http://padara.tripod.com/TR12.ZIP and at http://www.geocities.com/mpxplay/TR12.ZIP locations. (a short wav and ogg file) This file is not a special case, I get the same bug at every 4.-5. song (ripped from CDs), usually at the end of files. Used command line options: oggenc.exe -b350 track12.wav...

Oggenc ideas / source and request
...it seems my Watcom C compiler doesn't like some parts of the encoder (but the decoder works properly), and the compiled program makes a bad quality ogg file (sounds like a bad mp3 file (underwater effect) on 128 kbit/s) ... And please send that compiled program (exe) to me... incerely Attila Padar ps. I hope the program doesn't contain too many bugs --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe'...

RC2 worse than RC1 and Beta4
After doing an informal (128k) listening test, I have concluded that I prefer Beta4 over RC2. The 16kHz low-pass on the RC2 encoder makes it sound like FM radio. Both encoders SEEM to have a couple of dB bump at 10kHz.
