Advice about system for installing & updating all R packa ge in a Linux Lab?
If you have several different versions of R installed, you might want to use
a script like this one, which should work on (at least) 1.9.1 and newer.
<script>
#!/bin/sh
echo "##############"
echo "## This script will attempt to install all available R packages"
echo "## from the package repositories:"
echo "##"

Rd cross-references ... WARNING in R-2.10.*
I have observed a difference in behavior of R CMD check in older R vs R-2.10.x
on windows.
* using R version 2.10.0 (2009-10-26)
* using R version 2.10.1 RC (2009-12-14 r50718)
2.10 seems to be looking on the internet for crossreferenced packages.
I am not sure why it is looking. The string <pkg> is not in any of
the Rd files. I think it is not finding any CRAN sites because I am

DPI slider
Hello there,
I installed Championship Manager 01/02 using the brilliant Wine on my Ubuntu 10.04.1 system. It installed fine, but when I was in the game the mouse wasn't visible at all. I thought it may have been a graphics issue so started fiddling with the graphics settings in the wine configuration menu. As part of this experimentation I moved the dpi slider right up to maximum and applied

Installing packages from source code
Hi everybody,
I have trouble in installing packages from source code by following Section
5.1 in manual R-admin.pdf . I am using R 2.1.0 and Win NT.
Following the Windows toolset section in the manual, I download the tool
set package from: http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/tools.zip
and unzip under C:\tools
I also downloaded Perl (Windows Port) and installed it.

interactive menu in scripts
Hello, I would like to make my R script more interactive. Well, I want the
script to work like this:
I run the script from R Console and it offers me some options (press 1 for
something, or press 2 for something else). After pressing 1 or 2, do
corresponding procedure.
I am not able to find out how to do this. I guess the functions menu() or
switch() are the keys, but I didn't manage to use

Apache, MySQL, and PHP
Hi,
I need to ask a question about the usuage of these particular
packages...do you install the binaries for each or do you use what
comes with the OS out of the box??? The reason why I am asking is
because I am having problems using the one that comes with the OS.
Everything else runs great but I am using CentOS for the first time
and I want to make sure that I am not spinning my wheels

Announcing: Open OVF project source code availibility
...ty.
Hi folks, we are announcing the availibility of source code for the
open-ovf project.
OVF is a standard packaging format for virtual machines and software
appliances. The open-ovf project is seeking contributors and users to
help establish OVF as a transparent and platform-nuetral method for
packaing virtual machine images.
We anticipate being able to deploy a single OVF package to either Xen
or KVM. Eventually expanding that list to include VMware, Hyper-V, and
other platforms. Getting to that point will require community
contributions.
For a quick summary of OVF and the open source project...

Sysinux 6 will not boot ISOs on BIOS (i.e. pre-UEFI) systems
It occured with every BIOS system I tested on (none of them Dell):
1. HP G62 laptop (i3)
2. Samsung RV520 (i3)
Don't know what system Philip Muller uses; have copied him in as he has far
more technical knowledge than I do. Syslinux tested from Arch and Manjaro
(an Arch derivative). Basically found then when creating latest ISO images.
I may be missing something as well about the FMs. Just
