Success: HVM (VT) works on Core2duo with Intel P965 chip set!
Success story:
I''m now successfully running WinXP Home Edition as DomU under XEN, with
Gentoo Linux dom0. Xen and Linux kernel souce code installed from Gentoo
emerge sources (not from the xensource tarball).
Hardware: HP Pavilion model d4600y, Core2 Duo CPU, Intel P965 chip set.
(Despite predictions elsewhere on this mailing list, the P965 _does_ seem to
work just fine for VT.
The BIOS does NOT ask whether you want to enable/disable VT, but I presume
it must just always enable it, since it works.
If anybody else is having trouble getting VT working on this
syst...

DDR2 compile times (was Re: segfaults with 8 gig of ram)
Hello All.
Below are some compile times for 2.6.20 on an fx-62
running Centos64 with various 2 gig sticks of
dual channel ram (See previous posts with subject
of 'segfaults with 8gig of ram' for more details.)
It seems dual channel will compile a kernel faster,
but only gained around 30 seconds over 20 minutes.

Looking for a good disk exerciser
I recently added a Seagate 400Gb SATA drive to my system, and it has been
behaving strangely since I put it in. for one thing, the BIOS S.M.A.R.T.
came up with a warning the last time I booted with it enabled, saying that I
should backup my data and replace the disk (!).
I still have not made any irreversible data transfers to this drive, and I
have some time yet to take it back, but I'd

(due to some familiarity as a desktop at home) to CentOS based on
